And here we go.....

So Kusuckovic is gone. I hate to say it, but good riddence. I just do not know what we expected from this guy. I mean, his stats (http://www.fussballdaten.de/spieler/kucukovicmustafa/) (see below) are hardly stellar. Hell, they are not even mediocre. For a RL striker they are pretty good, but any expectation this kid was going to light up the BL was mistaken.

RL: 54 games, 26 goals, 11 cautions
2.BL: 50 games, 6 goals, 1 assist, 10 cautions
BL: 14 games, 1 goal, 2 cautions
I hope Genoble get something out of him, we sure didn't. Promise was one thing but he just had no work ethic. He should fit in well in France.:p

TZ is reporting (http://www.tz-online.de/de/sport/tsv1860/artikel_57122.html) that Goektan's lawyer has had contact with "several clubs" some from outsider Germany, as well as a few 3.BL-1.BL clubs, though no names were given. Oh well, that is taking a huge risk on a self desctructive person. Because he was fired by 1860 he cannot join any team until after July 1st. In the meantime he is "training" on his own.

Was cruising some pre-match info and found this link (http://www.tz-online.de/de/_media/fotostrecken/popups/popupgalerie_54861.html?pic=jeremies_dpa_475px) on TZ that shows many of the young talent that 1860 has lost over the years before they "hit it big". Even if you cannot read German, several of the names/faces you will recognize.

Also noticed that HSV beat Bayern 1-0 (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/spieltag/spielpaarungsbericht/object/863568) at home as well. Does not make the 3-1 Pokal loss look too bad, huh?

Stadium looks fairly empty today- Kicker says 21,000.
The streamer is covering half the screen with an ad, so I can't see the highlights AND Jessica Kastrop. http://www.justin.tv/angr5/popout
But I did like the Anne Wersching, "24" commercial at the start of halftime!

Well, it seems Kicker online is reporting a few wonderful, fun things to wake up to on Monday AM....making me feel like a Cardinals....or Schalke fan:

Stevic: Seems Micki Stevic, former BVB and 1860 player, will be taking over as sporting director at 1860 (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=16840876). Now, that is a position that Reuter has filled, along with three other posts. Seems Micki has some fresh financial backing for the club that will take a stake in the group that controls 1860. Bet the fans are too stupid to understand what THAT means. BTW, Stevic has NEVER been a manager to my knowledge.
Reuter: Reuter had a meeting with the Presidium (read: Three Stooges) yesterday after the game in what they called a "crisis meeting". At this meeting the Stevic issue was discussed and Kicker is reporting that Reuter will likely resign this week. I hope to God that is not true because that would leave a rather large gap. I fear that if Reuter goes it will only be a matter of time before 1860 loses their license as we have the track record of financial fitness of a major US Bank or Indian consulting firm (if you don't read the papers or live under a rock that's heavy sarcasm, folks).
Kurz: Bild is speculating (http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussball/zweite-liga/2009/02/02/1860-muenchen-sc-freiburg/spielbericht.html) that Kurz will be let go along with Reuter this week. Reuter has been Kurz's strongest defender. With him gone there is nothing keeping the board from firing Kurz. Suggested replacements for Kurz?

Klaus Toppmoeller: Former player and trainer who has not coached a side in 5 years.
http://www.fussballdaten.de/bilder/vereine/1fckaiserslautern/1978-1979/toppmoellerklaus.jpg (http://www.fussballdaten.de/galerie/spieler/toppmoellerklaus/bild7/)
Klaus Augenthaler: Although he has coached more recently that Toppi he is a former "red" and that will go over like a lead balloon with the 1860 faithful.

http://www.fussballdaten.de/bilder/vereine/bayernmuenchen/1978-1979/augenthalerklaus2.jpg (http://www.fussballdaten.de/galerie/spieler/augenthalerklaus/bild3/)
Papa Schlumpf: While having never coached in the professional ranks before, Herr Schlumpf has coached Spvgg Unterschlumpfheim since 1969 and has won a record 23 Schlumpfmesiters in the Schlumpf Bezirksliga.

If Bayern are FC Hollywood, then 1860 has to be FC 90210 or something like that. He's the latest in the press:

The issue of Stevic (a Serb) as new sport director has taken an interestign twist that has many scratching their heads. Seems Micki is backed by a group of Serb investors (who also have a play in Glasgow, I think) who want to buy a 20% stake in the 1860 business entity (not the club proper). Now, the reason anyone invests in anything is 1) for profit and/or 2) for power, but won't stay around long for #2 unless immediately followed by #1. Odd that ANYONE would invest in a floundering 2.BL club with a massive debt problem unless your name is Roman Abramavic or Dietmar Hopp and have money to piss away merely for the boutique factor of saying you own a club. Other motives? Who knows...
The aforementioned Gospodine Stevic seems to come with two players in his pocket. Oddly enough they used to play with a Serbian club. Oddly enough they are available to play. Oddly enough they are available right now until the end of the season. Coincidence?
Two new players (http://www.eyep.tv/index.php?id=75&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=2594&cHash=86670ab09b) named Rukavina and Gulan (at Tenagra, for the TNG fans) have joined 1860. Rukavina experience is here (http://transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/27924/antonio-rukavina/profil.html). Footy probably knows this guy well and can probably enlighten us as to how good he is. He is listed as a right defender....a position we know we have been weak at for a while with Schwarz out and Johnson having to cover the left in his absence. Gulan (http://transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/46553/nikola-gulan/profil.html) comes from Florence where he has been loaned out before. At 19, he must be an up-and-comer having been loaned out to Sampdoria in the past. Sounds like a Serbian Gebhart.
All of this makes one wonder how two players can magically show up on our doorstep and Kurz not know...or appear to have not known. Makes one believe that there are other "changes" about to come. Word is training is closed now, a move usually done before trainers are fired and new ones are hired, and that no one can talk to the press at the moment.
Kurz interview (http://www.eyep.tv/index.php?id=75&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=2574&cHash=19db207302). A class act and very professional in the face of stupid questions. Soooo many reporters, they smell blood in the water.

So, as you remember, at every 1860 home game the oh-so politically correct Europeans select three girls to compete (evidently solely on intelligence) to be the Rasen-Hasen (Translated: Grass Bunny) for one of the sponsors who, thankfully, sells lawn equipment. Oddly enough, rider mowers. Now all comedy aside between "riding mowers" and "women", it is further comical because I doubt there are more than 50 non-farming people in Germany who own enough grass to NEED a riding mower.

At any rate, below are the contestants this game. I picked Dana for two reason; both staring you in the face....and I don't mean her competitiors, though those would be two FURTHER reasons to vote for Dana, so 4 reasons altogether.

[Editors Note: I am sure there is no truth to the rumor that the next three contestants will be dressed wearing paper bags like the Unknown Comic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murray_Langston) of Gong Show fame.]

Garry. Classic post my friend. Of those three, I'd take Papa Smurf! At least he's blue!

And while Toppi hasn't coached a club side in 5 years, it's because most of that time, he's been the Georgian National Team coach.

I told you privately what I think. Toppi is a loser and while I think Augenthaler can get 1860 past the wall they seem to be stuck on at the moment, you are right that he's Bayern through and through and 1860 fans won't accept him.

However, I'm one of those who believes that there is a time where club management has to tell the fans to basically shut the f#ck up and trust them.

I think they are idiots if they are going to move Reuter out, but I'm all for sacking Kurz if they can get Augenthaler.

Augenthaler will eventually piss the team off with his arrogance, but he will move them forward before he does that. And even with the jobs he's been fired from, he had success moving those teams forward before he lost them.

And at FCN, one of Augenthaler's biggest problems was that he continued to live in Munich while coaching in Nuernberg. At 1860, I don't think that will be a problem. LOL!!

Back to moving the team forward.

I'm sorry, but from what I can see, Kurz does not have this team moving forward anymore. I think they've hit a wall with him in charge and while I f#cking hate Klaus Augenthaler, he would be a significant upgrade over Kurz.

A highly significant upgrade in my opinion.

And I hope they can find a way to get Stevic and Reuter to work together. I think 1860 could use a presence like Stevic at the club and those two worked well together in Dortmund as teammates. LOL!!

Getting back to football:

Garry, do you think Thorandt can be moved inside to play with Gregg??

Don't ask me why, but the three 1860 players I was actually a bit impressed with were Aigner, Roesler and Thorandt.

I like Thorandt's battling attitude and I think 1860 would be doing itself a disservice to put Thorandt on the bench, which if he stays at right wing, will probably happen with their having just brought Antonio Rukavina in on loan from BVB.

I wonder if that was a Stevic deal or a Reuter deal?

Here's a photo from the 1860 website which makes me hope even more that the rumors of Reuter leaving are bullshit.

http://www.tsv1860.de/media/images/archiv/bildergalerien/2008_2009/stevic_2009-02-02/stevic_kohler_reuter.jpg

Juergen Kohler (right), Micky Stevic (center) and Stefan Reuter celebrating BVB's 2002 Bundesliga title

Many people thought Stevic was being brought in to replace Reuter at BVB, but they turned out to be a great team on the pitch.

Perhaps they can be a great team in the boardroom too........

As far as Rukavina, you guys just got a quick, offensively-strong right back. However, his defensive game can use some work.

That was the knock on him at the 1st Bundesliga level. At the 2nd Bundesliga level, he should do great.

I think Rukavina's only mistake in Dortmund is that he's not a "Juergen Klopp type" of player. But I don't think that is such a bad thing. Rukavina was still pretty popular in Dortmund and most of us know he can still play this game.

He will be motivated as he will be fighting to keep his place on the Serbian National Team.

I think Kurz or whomever might be coaching 1860 next week needs to play this guy.

I just hope they can move Thorandt inside. I like Thorandt, but at the moment, Rukavina is the better player.

And for a team that values youngsters as much as 1860 does, Rukavina (25), is two years younger than Thorandt (27)........

Apparently, 1860 made Reuter an offer to stay on as Managing Director and he would be in charge of securing sponsorship, but the Kicker report linked here (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/503856/) quotes Reuter as stating, "The offer was unacceptable."

When Stefan Reuter left Dortmund, he said he did so because he "didn't have a real job."

I suspect this was the case with that 1860 offer too......

I hope BVB will be smart enough to offer him "a real job" now.

I would love for Reuter to come "home" and be Michael Zorc's successor.

However, I get the feeling Reuter may be the next Sport Director at his true "home", 1. FC Nuernberg.........

So, it turns out this thing with former 1860 and BVB player Micky Stevic being named Sport Director at 1860 yesterday was indeed a "hostile takeover."

I hoped the two could actually work together to bring 1860 (my current second favorite German club) back up where it belongs.

My dream was crushed quickly. :(

LoewenBoy
03 Feb 2009, 07:44 AM
My dream is over. The f#cking dumbasses let Reuter go!
I predict 1860 will lose their license within the next 5 years again. Their Board is like the current administration in the US: They talk a good game, but when you get right down to it, its freak'n the same old shit, different bottle.

I would post more but somehow I don't think what I would post would get past the Bs censors.

Getting back to football:
Garry, do you think Thorandt can be moved inside to play with Gregg??
Thorandt is a fighter alright, but sometimes overly so. I personally think he would be great as a defensive midfielder. Screw Beda. With all the time he has had on the pitch he shows me nothing. Not like he sucks that bad, but its like we are playing with 10 men; 9 if Patzer Tschauner shows up.
