Inspiring to me. I thought they'd get killed.

Good point. Especially with everything going on...

Good point. Especially with everything going on...

Not because of that, but because Mainz is a serious promotion contender.

1860 did well fighting for Kurz' job, but will they do it every week?

It really depends. From one match to the next, it is very difficult to guess which 1860 club will show up.

** Long Reply: Was out of town & batching replies in one volume**

A friend in Munich emailed me about this [Lodda as 1860 coach] first thing this morning. I have mixed feelings on this, all of which I will reserve until I hear Garry's thoughts. ;-)
Footy hit this on the head. Lodda is looking to be someone's saviour....anyone. He has not bee successful as a coach. At least, no more successful than Kurz.

1) If you thought the fans would go ballistic if they hire Augenthaler, multiply that rage by ten and you'll have what will happen if 1860 hires the village idiot "Loddar" Mattheaus. I predict Garry would seriously consider turning in his "Urkunde" then.
I would. It would confirm management has their head very far up their asses. Honestly, I do not think Stevic would do it. He was no fan of Lodda on the pitch, doubt he is off the pitch.

2) Garry believes, and I agree with him, that bringing back Werner Lorant would just expedite 1860's demise. But I think Garry would rather have Lorant back than see "Loddar" on the 1860 coach's bench........
If you want to ruin your young talent then bring him back. Lorant is someone who believes kids are best left at home with a sitter and not on the field. He will undo all that was done in the last few years youth-wise.

I really believe if any ex-Bayern star is considered for this job, it will be Augenthaler and only Augenthaler. Seeing how these guys back-stabbed Reuter, I wouldn't be surprised if Augenthaler's training gear is already made and waiting for his first training session next week.
Touche! I would rather Kurz than Augenthaler, Augenthaler than Lorant, Lorant than Lodda. I don't think Lodda is being considered by anyone other than himself and the press.

Yeah, but even Mattheaus would be vastly better than rehashing tired, old Werner Lorant.
Very true. Lorant is a non-issue. Stevic before Lorant.

As for Hoeness' comments, it just smacks me of elitism, especially considering how he reacted negatively towards comments about 1860 at the Bayern fan meeting this fall.
Gotta agree with Footy, I think you are being too hard on Hoeness (did I just say that?). Not just because I think he is right but because he gains absolutely nothing from saying it. It is obvious to all but the 1860 leaders that Reuter was quality. Hoeness knows a thing or two about the job. If HE is saying something, like him or hate him, his accuracy rate is pretty damn high. I hate the bugger with all my heart, but here he is spot on. Guess what, Uli was not ALWAYS a Bayern fan.

Plus there's other ways to comment about concern of the future of a club without resorting to "the beginning of the end..."
I think he was making a point that 1860s management is incompetent. the fact there has been little said to detract from that assertion is firm validation in my opinion.

Hey Hey, this sounds like the Abendzeitung Forum here. Okay there was some weird decisions in managment, decisions I don't agree with.
Laughed when I read this...very funny and repped. Its hard not to sound like AZ or TZ when you have a board like 1860's.

Okay guys, just watched the 1860 game. 2-0 down in Mainz and then a comeback. [snip]
Only downer the second Bender twin, and Beda might be out.
Will comment on the game in another reply but it was a good game. While Kurz said the players played for the club and themselves, Bierofka CLEARLY stated (http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tsv1860.de%2Fde%2Faktuell%2Fnews%2F2008%2Fnews_2009-02-08_stimmen_1860-mainz.php&sl=de&tl=en&history_state0=) that the lads went 100% all-out for Kurz. That type of loyalty in a club with the record we have is unusual. Reuter saw that. I hope Stevic does and gives Kurz time. He is the right guy. As for Beda being injured, sorry but that can only be a good thing for 1860 if he continues to play central defense. His poor marking lead to the 1-0.

Bayern General Manager Uli Hoeness has offered to have discussions with local rivals 1860 Munich on releasing 1860 from their Allianz Arena lease and mentioned the possibility that 1860 could return to Grünwalder Stadion.
He had made the same offer to Reuter but the conditions were something Reuter knew would not work financially for the club. Reuter wanted to use the leverage with the city to renegotiate the contracts that cause us to run a $3m annual deficit. If we pull away from the Allianz we are kissing a good % of money good-bye.

1860 did well fighting for Kurz' job, but will they do it every week?
I don't think they have every stopped fighting, it is just that this week it was 100% of the time. Past efforts have been good but fallen short.

Hmmm...someone there must have looked at the books while not high on crack. Anyone knows that 1860 is not in any shape to make money until the contracts with AA are restructured.

I was afraid this would happen down the road. I guess better now than later.

What does this mean for the club?

It means Herr Stevic and the new Geschäftsführer Dr. Markus Kern (in unison: "Who the F is he?") better damn well have a clue on how to run a football club's financials. Accounting 101 here, but the concept has elluded 1860 management for quite some time.

Edit: Oh, and more fun, Trenkwalder said being the trikot sponsor in this economy is too much for them. They are going back to "Partner" status so 1860 is without a main sponsor again. If no one in concerned they SHOULd be....that is where we get the second biggest portion of our income next to gate receipts from the Allianz Arena games. Oh wait, they want to get OUT of that stadium. That's smart. Sure, our operating costs will drop by 3.2m but our revenues will drop by ~3m too. If you are keeping score at home, that puts us STILL at an operating deficit of 200k. Brilliant fnancials minds this board, huh?

Yep, it seems that the DFL had some serious doubts about this deal...

1860 are claiming they had to pull out of the deal because the dfl were putting to many hurdles in the way .

they were concerned that the investor could take the control of the club.

The deal isn't dead. I think the DFB is concerned that it could circumvent "50+1."

Here is a Reuters UK article on the matter. (http://football.uk.reuters.com/bundesliga/news/692EA26E-F78F-11DD-950A-D2D2B90BFB54.php?refresh=true)

I read much of that same information in this article at Kicker.de (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/504243/) yesterday.

Fabian Johnson played most of Germany U-21's 1-1 draw in Cork, Ireland last night.

He did not start the match, but came in when Stuttgart's Sami Khedira had to go off with an apparent injury.

Johnson hit the post on what should have been a sure goal not long after he entered the match.

I guess these days, that's called "Sechzig Dusel....." :(

Well I think that was EXACTLY what Stevic and his "investors" wanted to do. At any rate, they don't need 51%. I think at 49% the new investors will get a few other votes and effectively have control as if they had 51%. This is a Wildmoser-style attempt to control 1860 and nothing less.

Man. How far this club has fallen. :(

It seems like their little "Germans First" scheme was just yesterday........

I have found it helpful to seperate by love for 1860 as a team versus the club or its frationalized fan base. I love 1860 the football team. I love 1860 the club but NOT the board, the football department or the idiotic Balkanized fan base who argue endlessly about needless, silly things.

If you can get over that you are able to enjoy being an 1860 fan.

Manfred Stoffers (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/504284/) was with Festina, a former sponsor of 1860, and is now taking over Reuter's position. Odd that no official announcement of Reuter's leaving has been made. What a bunch of twats the 1860 Board is. Pure bush-league.

The press conference was circus. The 1860 board is showing more and more that they are a group of clowns who know nothing about football as a business. They are even worse spokesmen. Just watch (http://www.eyep.tv/index.php?id=75&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=2816&cHash=4d91629ed7). There are a total of 5 segments, but you only need to see one to see the clowns perform.
