Well Unterhaching isn't much further then Fröttmaning, really rationally speaking what would be the difference between playing in Unterhaching or Fröttmaning. Of course 1860 does not belong in the outskirts of Munich. We are a central city club, we belong to Giesing and that is where the club should play. If the Grünwalder is not an alternative, I say we stay in the Allianz Arena and figure it out. Lets be honest if 1860 returns to the Bundesliga it will be a great asset to have that stadium.

Totally agree. But the thought of even subletting there is probably one of the silliest ideas I have heard.

The Grünwalder Stadion is definitely not a viable alternative. Too much would need to be spent to being it up to standard.

As far as Unterhaching, again, why move to another club's stadium??

Do we even know if SpVgg Unterhaching is even willing to share with them??

At least 1860 helped build the AA. 1860 was part of the reason the place got built.

I think if 1860 has to move to survive, again, the only real option is the Olympiastadion.

They need to think of the revenue they would lose in Unterhaching when they play other "big" traditional clubs because there just isn't enough seating for everyone.

Hell, it doesn't even have to be a "big" traditional side.

1860 drew 21,100 for FSV Frankfurt two Fridays ago.

As I remember, Sportpark Unterhaching only holds just over 15,000.

Our man "goingdownsouth" probably wouldn't have been able to attend that match. :(

I think what we have here are a bunch of idiots who claim to love 1860, but they seem to love it as long as they get what they want.

IMHO, anyone who truly loves Sechzig wouldn't be calling for the team to leave the Allianz Arena, they would be demanding the club get better terms to stay there.

Which, as LoewenBoy points out over and over again, is something Stefan Reuter wasn't just working on, but it was something he had a decent chance of pulling off.

But to expect that would be giving certain sections of Sechzig fans too much credit.

I think Sechzig management are morons for even addressing this ridiculous issue.

Right. It's basic econ 101: We have operational costs, we have revenue and we need to make sure the latter is MUCH higher than the former. It cannote get much simplier than that.

According to this Bundesliga.de story in German (http://www.bundesliga.de/de/liga2/news/2008/index.php?f=0000122427.php), 1860's Lars Bender suffered several torn muscles in his left thigh during the Greuther Fuerth match and will be out two to three weeks.

Man....this guys is starting to get the rub of being injury prone. Either that or we keep bringing him back too fast.

We had the same problem with Owomoyela. We kept him out a bit longer the last time and now there aren't too many right backs in the BL in better current form.

If Germany didn't have the 50+1 rule 1860 would be a club that would be ripe for takeover.

Schick (4): Disagree. This kid had a decent game and played well.

I'd give the kid (to be honest, I never heard of him before) a 3. Rukavina had more problems with the Fürth LB Schröck (who is a right winger) than Schick had with Haas (who's actually a playmaker and no right winger)...

Btw: Here's the DSF report with the highlights.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth - 1860 München 22.3.09 Video - Katerle1302 - MyVideo

How mentioned before, your guys were better over the whole 90 minutes ... but well, Fürth was better in Munich, too ... and still lost 1:3 due to terrible 10 minutes after the interval. That's soccer sometimes. ;)

So true!!! I remember that game and thinking to myself how we were up 3-1 while Fuerth was all over the pitch. Seemed you guys just could not get the ball in the box. Or course, that was our "goldenen Oktober", followed by our "völlig beschissen November bis Februar".:D

Schalke fans must love this photo....its the "tradition's team" which is made up of ex-loewen players. They play in a winter tourney. Loewer right in the pic is Martin Max who played 5 years at Schalke. Of course, he played 6 years at BMG. My guess is he plays for them in tourney's too...but not in this one because he played as a Loewen against BMG and Schalke.:D He looks in good shape....bet he could still play.;)

Wouldn't you just love to strap on the boots and play against this side with your over 30 (40) side?
You might have it handed to you, but, it would be lots of fun and worth every second of the '90! :D
This side looks in much better shape then the Traditionmannschaft/ Meistermannschaft at FCB. Looks like they play more regularly since you got to pay an arm and a leg to arrange a match with FCB's group. Even if the event is for a charity.

Just a related side note:

Usually I train with SG Wattenscheid 09's Meistermannschaft when traveling for 10-14 days in country. I've even played a few matches. It's always fun playing in with a group of old friends and guys that are graying as much as me and still maintain themselves well enough to play 20-30 matches a year. Best part is that they aren't so stuck up on past image. They just love to play the game as long as they are able and while results are important; fun is the real goal.

If you have friends or contacts with clubs in Germany, contact them in advance and let them know you are in the area and ask to train. Most these organizatons are glad to share experiences and training with you. Of course you need to know what your doing and have decent skills. Keep in the background and let the trainer do his job. You'll find they will make a point of working you hard and drinking even harder afer the training!

Not a bad way to make friends. A few years back, when I lived in Dayton, Oh. my O-30 side hosted this team for 10 days and arranged three matches (against us and two other local O-30 sides). Big BBQs afterwards and a huge amount of beer shared.

We arranged our match at the Deutsche-Amerika Edelweisshaus facility. Huge turnout of spectators and one hell of a 1-1 game. Along with a few "tons" of good Deutschebrau (KoelnKoelsch) they brought, the club arranged a massive Wurstfest and Poka event afterward.
Lots of planning and including the community to pull this off. Many brought their families. A great time had by all and a lifetime of memories.

Something to think about if you have German club contacts that may want to travel stateside.

Just a thought . . .:D

I figured I would be forgivin for the the non-1860 related nature of it. Iw as going to pathetically tie to 1860 "grass bunnies", but somehow the words just failed me.

On a side note, FC Dallas hired dancers this year and the silly fans are complaining about them. Now, I am a football purist, but as long as they are not cheering on the sidelines during the game, I am all for more "eye candy" at games. Nes pas?

LOL. I get with the 1860 AH team on occassion. My old club (SV Funkstreife) is fun to kick around with. They are all Bavarian cops and I get the insight into some cool info.;)

LOL...do that all the time. I had to pretend I was this Greek guy who left the team because his was the only un-used card. They kept calling me "Constantine" for 5 matches. I ran into the referee of one match at Andechs and he kept introducing me as a Greek guy. Thank God with all the Greeks in Muenchen he did not introduce me to anyone who was actually Greek. I know a few words, but mostly food-related.:D
