Check THIS out: It appears that to keep busy instead of SUPPORTING their club in constructive ways...such as attending games, let's say.... some Loewen fans are starting an "action". What is an "action" you say? Picture 50 or so lazy people sitting around a bier hall somewhere pretending to know what they are talking about and coming up with lame-ass ideas like, say, alchemy. This is eerily familiar to the same "artistic" mentality that brought you great ideas like, oh, I don't know....fascism? However, THIS great idea is to spend EVEN MORE money on upgrades to a stadium that is so old and decrepit, it makes the Colosseum in Rome look like a modern condo in San Francisco.
Just maybe, if we sell enough players, wish on a few more stars and pet a few more unicorns, all our dreams will come true. These are the same f#cking fans that are too cheap to go to the game (http://www.loewenfreun.de/loewenforum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17405) AND too cheap to sign up for the LoewenTV to support their team and prefer to bootleg their game watching on justinTV. Now THAT'S support for ya.

This would be hilarious if it weren't so idiotic and pathetic. I used to think some of my fellow BVB fans were idiots, but none of them are on this scale.......

The game starts in 45 mins so I will be off this board until later this afternoon. Don't want to spoil my web feed which posts 15 mins after the game is over. :D
My tipp for the match is 2-1 to Sechzig!
You're going to love that last ten minutes!

Just saw an interview with Wolf on Premiere.
This guy might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but that's the kind of guy I want coaching my football team.
I think they asked him about being happy with tonight's result.
Part of what he said was, "When we have ten matches left on the schedule and the president of the club asks me how many of those matches we are going to win, I say "ten." Anyone who says anything else is in the wrong profession. We are 1860 and we go out to win every match."
I LOVE this dude!! LOL!! :D

If not for the dumbass AR calling back Sven Bender's goal, it WOULD have been 2-1!!!!!!

Yeah, but they had enough chances after the bad call.
Despite that, they would have deserved to win.

Oh CLEARLY 1860 should have finished better. What it appears they are doing now that they did not do previously:
Keep fighting
Finishing a bit better
Marking in midfield better
Fewer "fehlpaesse"
Did you see what having Sven and Roessler did to the attack rather than having Brieda in there? It was like having one more player on the field. Unfortunately, the goal conceded was given up by the guy Roessler should have been marking. Oh well.
I have to say I am IMPRESSED with the fight FSV put up. 18 points in the last 9 matches!!! Wish we had that!!!

I think Kicker was pretty harsh on Thorandt and Schick. Roesler was better than a 5...would have giv en a 3,5 or 4. Schaffler got crucified because in the post game press conference Wolf, when asked who was supposed to mark Husterer when he score, answered simply "Schaeffler". To be fair, the boy was not stellar, but he WAS part of what happened up front to continue to put pressure on for the equalizer. I think 5 is a bit unfair for him.
M. Hofmann (3) - Rukavina (3), T. Hoffmann (3), Thorandt (4), Schick (4) - S. Bender (3) - Aigner (3,5), Johnson (4) - Rösler (5) - Schäffler (5), Lauth (2,5)

Garry, do you know what I like about Wolf's response?
He is f#cking holding his players RESPONSIBLE for their marking assignments.
I get so tired of these coaches and managers crying when anyone has the nerve to criticize their players.
It especially galls me because it is a huge problem at BVB.
Hold players responsible and see if they don't do better next time.
I agree that you win as a team and you lose as a team, but damnit, sometimes people have to be held responsible for their actions!
Especially when they fail their teammates!
(Sorry, that last line was all about BVB.....)
If I didn't do a project when it was due and my division subsequently failed at a mission because of it, no one would protect me. My ass would be gone!
I would love to see Juergen Klopp go into a press conference and not say, "Ah, this guy had a bit of a problem because......."
I'd like him to say what Wolf said. "This player was responsible for this thing on this play!"
I'll bet you Schaeffler doesn't tuck his tail and hide. I'll bet you he does better next time.
As far as his Kicker rating, I don't know that it was just Wolf's comments man. I might have gone 4.5, but I didn't see where Schaeffler did anything to warrant any better than a 4.5. Going 4.5 would have been nice from what I saw.
I think the boy actually simply did his job. That's usually a "4". On top of that, he blew a marking assignment that cost his team a goal.
How is the "5" "a bit unfair???" They could have been nice and gone 4.5, but he cost his team a goal. I don't see how dropping someone a full point for that isn't justified.
Again man, I think you're just a bit over-impressed with Schaeffler. You seem to be right about where he might be going, but I can't agree with you that this rating is "a bit unfair."
I think it is spot on.

Totally agree. His answer was classic (http://www.eyep.tv/beitrag/2-bundesliga/video/siegesserie-vorerst-gestoppt.html) [7:10 in the interview]: When asked by the reporter (in a long winded fashion trying to stir up trouble that was not there) who blew the marking assignment, Wolf simply said, "Schaeffler's marking assignment was Husterer [the goal scorer]". When the reporter tried to dig deeper (and infer more than was there) by saying "the questions was answered, huh?" Wolf just sat there stone-faced and said (a la DeNiro), "What? (as in 'you talkin' to me?') What should I say to him [Schaeffler]? We have to look forward, we went into the locker room and I told them we need to turn the game and we turned the game. We will not have completed the game analysis until Monday."

Amen!!

Yup....and remember, Wolf was Schaeffler's coach in the U23s for a while and his co-trainer under Kurz when Kurz was the U23 coach.
As far as his Kicker rating, I don't know that it was just Wolf's comments man. I might have gone 4.5, but I didn't see where Schaeffler did anything to warrant any better than a 4.5. His play was part of the offensive that lead to all those chances in the last 20 mins. Lauth may have gotten the goal, but Schaeffler was the guys running hs ass off to pressure the defense into giving up easy balls to the midfield.
How is the "5" "a bit unfair???" They could have been nice and gone 4.5, but he cost his team a goal. I don't see how dropping someone a full point for that isn't justified.
Well, I don't disagree that dropping a player a full point for a blown marking assignment that leads to a goal is fair. I have always found it a bit odd giving strikers marking assignments for guys good in the air. Being offensively good in the air is one thing, marking a guy defensively like that is another. Its just my biased being a former striker.
Again man, I think you're just a bit over-impressed with Schaeffler. You seem to be right about where he might be going, but I can't agree with you that this rating is "a bit unfair." I think it is spot on.
Just think it was a bit hard done. You could equally knock Lauth for having missing 2-3 sitters for a guy of his calibre, or Thorandt or Johnson for having missed their close range shots. But usually you give guys a break for stuff like that. To me 5 is "you sucked AND you screwed up". 4 would have been "you screwed up". 6 being "you don't belong on the pitch".:D

After last home match not much better here, though certainly not the worst bunch of the season. I hear they are saving the really hot girls for when Goin' Down LEAVES town.

I figured it was a good time to review the open contracts with the U23 team. If you recall, over the last 4 years 1860 has had little money with which to develop the first team and has had to rely HEAVILY on its youth system. Luckily, we have one of the best youth development systems in Germany and have had a crop of excellent talent arise over the last 4 years. The bulk of that talent (Benders, Gebhart, Jungwirth, Schaefer, Schaeffler, Johnson, Schwarz, etc.) either currently play for 1860 or other teams...they are no longer U23 regulars. The remainder of that group of very good youngsters are still in the U23 team. There are a few that are in the U19 team, working their way into the U23 team.
Below is a matrix of the players, their positions, contract termination dates...all ranked according to # of games played for the U23 this year. I will briefly review my thoughts on each:
Krauss: Stable 3 string keeper. My guess he will work to take Tschauner's place if he can. Rumor is Wolf not enamoured with Tschauner.
Roessl: Once the rising star, now on the way out. Replaced by Wolf when he took over the U23s, it is unlikely the kid stays if Wolf does.
Siebold: Gone.
Tausenpfund: I believe they will try to keep. Has doen well in central defense but never called up yet.
Schick: Just called up. I hear Wolf says that he stays Schick will be the next wing back on the right (if Rukanvian truly goes back to BVB).
Jungwirth: Just turned 20 and realizes he willg et more playing time in future. Question is if other 2.BL or 3.BL clubs come calling for him will he go?
Leist: Same boat as Jungwirth but without the U19 national team pedigree.
Burkhard: I think he leaves. He has not seen much first team action and cannot remain on the U23s. I think he leaves.
Bueckle and Ratei: All in the same boat; new to the U23s in terms of seeing standard action, will likely re-sign unless someone comes calling. Not sure they will leave 1860's IIs for another team's II's.
Schlittenheim: Not sure if he will get re-signed. He is 22 and getting too old to play U23. He has not been called up and yet been a standard player for the U23s...all very much like Steven Purdy last year....and they let him go. Same thing here?
Hammann: He still has 2 years of U23 action if he re-signs. Might get scouted by a few RL teams.
Marz: Was a hot prospect of Kurz but has not seen much standard time on the U23s. At only 19, I expect he will re-sign.
Hosinier: This kid is HOT. If 1860 does not sign him I expect another 3.BL club will pick him up. He is a striker very much like Schaeffler....and only 19.
Majdancevic or Sternisko: Don't think they will resign them to make space for Mlapa. 1860 has some excellent young strikers I am sure they want to get ont he U23 level.

I can only respond to your Rukavina comment. Without the investor to make the deal permanent, I'm pretty sure Sechzig will have no choice but to send Rukavina back to BVB, who in turn will look to sell him to the highest bidder.
tz is still clinging to their speculation that Rukavina will be part of a swap deal which will see Sven Bender going to BVB, but I really don't see that happening. Not because of anything with Sven. I'd love to have him in Dortmund. Sven would be a nice replacement for Marc-Andre Kruska (former Germany U-21 captain who moved from BVB to FC Brugge [Belgium] during the winter break), but in my opinion, unless you guys like Rukavina A LOT, a swap deal really makes no sense for Sechzig unless BVB offers Rukavina and money.
I say that because I think Sven is a player Sechzig can eventually get a little money for and while I like Sven, I don't think Sven is worth Rukavina and money just yet.
If you guys think keeping Rukavina is worth the money Sechzig would eventually get for Sven, then maybe both clubs would benefit from a swap deal.
I know I believe BVB would benefit from getting Sven instead of bringing Rukavina back.

to be honest, and not a knock against Rukavina, but I think we can do just fine against 2.BL competition with the likes of Schick and Schwarz on the wings and save ourselves 2m/year in salary (or what ever he would cost). He's good, just not 2m/year + transfer good.
Now, that said, as stupid as the Back-Stabbing Bastard Stevic is about money, I could honestly see him trading Bender for Rukavina. Why? Because financially it makes ZERO sense. 1860 would be paying Rukavina's transfer fee by selling Bender AND STILL paying Rukavina's salary which is FAR more than Bender's.
Naw, I think we should stick with Scwharz and Schick. Of course, that means 1860 will do something stupid.

Dude, he doesn't make nearly that much with us. I don't believe Rukavina made a million Euros with us.
I believe Rukavina's salary was around 600-800,000 Euros.
Plus, he would have to sign a new contract with Sechzig. You don't just get stuck with the terms of his BVB contract.

Again, I think your salary assumption is wrong. I don't doubt Rukavina makes more than Bender, but I don't think Rukavina makes anywhere near what you think he does.
BVB can't pay those salaries anymore either.
The highest paid BVB player to be let go during the winter transfer window was Robert Kovac and he made 1.5M.
From what I understand, Rukavina didn't make close to what Kovac did.
Naw, I think we should stick with Scwharz and Schick. Of course, that means 1860 will do something stupid.
I can agree with keeping Sven and sticking with the kids at right back. However, they are going to feel the pressure of delivering on this "Promotion in 2010" shit, so yeah, I think you're right. They're going to do something stupid.
It may not be the Rukavina/Bender swap, but it will be something stupid.........

Are you ready for the Bavarian derby on Sunday? ;)

I managed to attend this afternoon's training session (http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/9104/pic7182.jpg) in Fürth ... and noticed that Stefan Reisinger didn't participate in the game (he was just having a jogging tour together with the goalie Lobouè, who seems to have picked up an injury as well):

According to the Fürth doc, chances are 50:50 that both players will be available on Sunday. I think it would surely be a huge disappointment especially for Reisinger if he can't play against his former club...

I had heard that he was out and that aonther player (name escapes me) was handed a two match ban and is not available. If I know Reisinger, he will do all he can to get back and ready for the match.
My tip: 2-2 if all available players can play. 2-1 if 1860 is losing key players. 1-1 if Fuerth is losing key players. Do not expect 1860 to win....that would just be too much to hope for.:(

It's the RB and skipper Daniel Felgenhauer. After Rahn's injury (suffered against Oberhausen), both first choice FB's won't be available. At least the CB Biliskov is back on Sunday...

All is possible in this game. Fürth will surely try to show a reaction after the 1:5 in Osnabrück and knows that only a victory counts, whereas Uwe Wolf certainly knows how to motivate his guys. But isn't it time for him to finally lose his first match...? :-))

True, but Fuerth has decent depth in that position to face other 2.BL teams. Lauth may cuase you some problems but that assumes he gets the ball. Much will depend on Schaeffler, Bender and Roesler being able to get the ball forward. If they play like they did the last 20 mins against FSV, it will be an interesting match.

And with 3,000 fans going, it won't be any small contingent in Fuerth. Hopefully our a-hole fan groups like the CN's and a few other behave themselves are respect the game/fans. I think Wolf will have these guys up for the game.
But isn't it time for him to finally lose his first match...? :-))
No. No, its not time for that yet. When he gets 43 points he may lose a match. I love his answer everytime someone asks him how many of the remaining games he needs to win: "All of them. Why would I say otherwise? Coaches should always seek to win games or they are in the wrong profession." Marvelous!!!:D
