The sense of enthusiasm and excitement was pretty clear. Now, can they continue that, at least in 2 weeks against FSV Frankfurt, ;-) ???

That is the question. Pauli is obviously not very good right now, but still. 5-1 is still 5-1.

And it is still just one match and just three points. The last time I checked, there aren't any "style points" or "bonus blowout points" in football.

Bayern won in 5-0 in the CL this past week and laid a f#cking egg in Bremen yesterday. They didn't get any Bundesliga points for that 5-0.

You have to wonder how much of this was their playing "over their heads" because they were embarrassed by the Duisburg result and getting their coach fired?

Just as quickly as Sechzig forgot that 4-1, they need to forget this 5-1 and get ready for what will be a hard-fought Bayern Derby in Ingolstadt.

The good thing is that they have two very winnable matches (@Ingolstadt and the FSV match) before they have to go to Fürth.

I just hope they can win both.

Of course not, you are absolutely right... And I never meant to insinuate as much.

Agreed. Fürth is a very game and chippy squad. They are fun to watch.

So much for the Spring-like weather Munich was having... looks like it will be in the 30s and 40s for me next week. Scheisse...

Dude, that's still better than what we've been having. And I have to remember to check my supervisor to see if they'll let me escape about an hour and a half early for that match.

Hey, so long as my plane gets on the ground safely, I will take whatever I can get, dude.

First stop, after checking in at the Gaesthaus, is Andescher am Dom on Weinstr. in Muenchen. Not only is the dopplebock dunkel worth the price of the trip to Bavaria alone, the food there, so I have heard, is solid.

Great win for der Löwen this Spieltag against fellow mid-table side St. Pauli. Maybe Loewenboy will smile a little as the team tries to pull itself up the table and some respecability. Have to say that it may be time for Hain to retire. Uwe Wolf seems to have found a back four combo that works (at least against SP). Berhalter is really done if he can't make the subs bench.

It looks like Freiburg and Mainz 05 have a clear path to promotion. SpVgg Gruether Fürth and FCK battling it out for the last promotion spot. Have to think that any of the promo candidate will struggle to stay up. Neither has large financial capabilities. Would be nice to see SpVgg go up just so Nürnberg has some reputation in the top flight.

TuS Koblenz get the win and Yeldell doing well with Taylor getting the late sub run. I have to think Yeldell will find a way to a top flight side despite the 0-9 mauling from Hansa (while Pierce leaves the sinking ship elsewhere in the Zweitaliga or returns to MLS). Sad to see the proud Hanseatic club heading dowwn to the 3. Liga.

I love Andechser am Dom. Last season, I watched quite a few matches out on their patio.

But is it fair to say from your comments that 1860 gave a "spirited" performance while Pauli may not have been "all there?"
I would say that is fair. It's not like 1860 was playing over their heads and Pauli REALLY sucked. More along the lines that 1860 finally was running on all cylinders at the same time Pauli was having a game like we had last week. Take a "normal" Pauli team outing and that game is 3-1 to 1860 (perhaps 2-1), but still an 1860 win.

Your comments look exactly like what my friend Willie told me about Bayern-Sporting.

EXACTLY!!! And I posted as much on the Bayern board after that match. Some agreed Bayern simply finished the few gifts given. Some were the usual Bayern fans trumpeting the "domination". Yeah, like German "dominated" the French in 1940 when the French just capitulated.

BTW Garry, yes, I'm hoping you're right about Schaeffler. He seems to be coming around.
He was showing yesterday exactly what I expect of the kid. HE was not a super star, just a good solid performance from a tall, fast, quick striker that I expect to see.

The sense of enthusiasm and excitement was pretty clear. Now, can they continue that, at least in 2 weeks against FSV Frankfurt, ;-) ???
Dunno. That is the $64,000 question this club seems incapable of answering. At very least it iw 3 points and does NOT (insert sound of knocking wood) look like we are in for another rueckrunde where we lose 14 games then win our last 2 to avoid relegation......I hope!!!

You have to wonder how much of this was their playing "over their heads" because they were embarrassed by the Duisburg result and getting their coach fired?
I think they simply played. The emotion of the first toal from Lars, running over to Wolf and giving him a HUGE hug, said more than any platitudes the announcer could have given. To his credit he simply shut up and let the moment speak for itself. the next two goals, from Schaeffler and Johnson simply illustrated the potential Kurz and Reuter saw in this club all along. One things stood out....Schaeffler and Kurz sticking by the kid to give him the experience MAY (with still doubt in my tone) be paying off.

Solid? That's like calling Heidi Klum "cute".

Well, I think Berhalter will still be around. I rate him equal to Torben. I am not sure I would rate that back line yet until they get tested by a teamnot having a head-up-the-ass day. The one goal they did give up was entirely Schick's fault. He should have had that guy covered and he simply did not. Beda continued to show that he cannot be trusted with sharp instrumements. Miserable day for him though I have no doubt Kicker will give him a 3.

On a funnier note, two people who met online decided to "meet" each other for the first time in person at the game....in body paint in the middle of the field. Check out the guy on the left...seems happy he got the chick and not the dude.

There are few places in that area that suck. Donisil is good. Kaesespaetzle to die for.

I will be right there (Andechser am Dom) so I would be remiss if I did not take one for the team and give it a go...

Hmmm. .. they say a picture says a thousand words!

They were playing at the Allianz and not the Millentor, correct?

Guess they must have been in Bayern since the guy would have had both security personnel carrying him off for "interogation" in St. Pauli.:p

Cheers . . . Woody

Maybe it is 17+ years of marriage, but when I see a woman like that absolutely zero words come to mind. My body simply starts reacting on its own and the drooll can be measured in buckets.;)

Yes, but with 1860's home record one could easily have confused the two.
