They're playing a few shows before heading off to record a new record as a band again. Caught them at a sold out 9"30 club last night. Felt like a sardine, couldn't see a damn thing, but they sounded great. A little slow to get rolling, but once they got into gear, it was great. I've been listening to them all day since and still can't get enough. They played a sprinkling from all their records and someone even asked his girl friend to marry him during the singing of "Question". I guessed they worked it out with the band in advance since Miller dedicated the song to his "friends" Heather and ???. Then, (I heard this from people who could see), a guy a presented a girl with a ring while Miller sang.

Valentine sounded great live, as did Time Bomb and Brown Eyes. I'm terrible with remembering song names or set lists, but a good show in spite of not being able to see or breathe.

Most interesting is they played several new songs and they all sounded good. I'm looking forward to the new disc.

It was so packed, I didn't even see you there Nancy! :)

My first Old97s show. It was neat-o.

Living in Dallas for as long as I did will make you a bit tired of them. But whatever...

I remember seeing one of their first shows ever. And I mean EVER...at a house party in someone's backyard.

I can understand how you can get tired of a local band that's all the rage. Sort of like Good Charlotte out here. ;)

Eddie from Ohio falls into that department for me. I find them just OK, but they are definitely favorites for lots of people in this area. Now, if the Old 97's were local, I don't know if I'd get tired of them....
