other than his CL win with porto what is so great about jose mourinho? he was at the helm of chelsea and now inter both big spending stacked teams. the way he is arrogant in interviews you would think he's soccer royalty.

Therein lies the answer. I think the nickname is as much to do with his own opinion of himself as his achievements.

I think considering what he did with Porto he could claim some right to others giving him the mantle. As far as claiming it to himself I think he is stretching it a bit and it does show a bit of arrogance.
Having said this its the media that talk him up.
IMO the original special one mantle belongs to the late Mr Clough.....
