Not one, but two good friends have recently been told that they suffer from Plantar fascitis, or heel spurs. For those who may not know, it's a painful condition in which there's a tear in the tendon that goes from the arch area to the heel along the bottom of the foot; subsequent inflamation causes pain.
They are on a search for a boot that gives them the best possible heel and/or arch support and cushioning. Any information is greatly appreciated.

The Predator Mania's seem to have good arch support and decent cushion.
Also, the Nike Total 90 II seem to have good cushion from and decent arch support. I have apair of Nike Internationals and the air soles provide a lot of cushion.
(I tried both these shoes on last week, but had to settle for manics as my foot is too flat for the scuplted arches in the manias and to narrow for the Total 90's).
Your friends may also want to look into custom orthodics and or turf/hard ground shoes for some cushion on rock hard fields and hopefully take a proscribed break from soccer to let their feet heal.
