My scarves have been up for a couple of years, and there's no appreciable dust on them. Of course, there's no smoking in the house, and the cats have only been around for two months.

String picture wire along the top of the wall, about 3cm down from the ceiling.
Secure every 30-40 cm with a staple or tightly wrap the wire around a screw in a drywall anchor if you have plaster walls like I do.
Clip 2 small binder clips (19mm) to the top of the scarf behind or between the tassles.

Remove the "arm" off the clip on the back of the scarf and fold the other side down.

Hang the scarf over of the wire.

that's nice, when I get more that'll be a nice thing to do. Right now with my more limited collection, I have a quilt display type thing that I have drapped them over.

i know someone had photos - on either this or some other similar thread - displaying a room in which there was a wall covered with horizontally hung scarves, and i think they had described their hanging technique. but it was a long time ago, and i can't remember how he did it.

Strictly speaking I don't collect scarves, but I have started to pick one up when I can if I go to a foreign match. My two latest ones, from a trip to Istanbul two weeks ago, still await hanging.

A few more, and a ludicrously expensive Kyoto Purple Sanga away shirt (their scarf, far right on the first pick, is actually made from towelling).

If anyone finds that thread or has ideas, please post it here. I picked up about five scarves in Europe this summer, and while that's not enough for a good vertical display, I think they'd look great horizontally in my living room. Any ideas/suggestions/tips would be most welcome.

Yes. A hell of a lot less than jersey collectors. :)

Andy has provided the correct answer. Until I finish my basement I will not be adding many more scarves. What may happen is I actually move to a place where I can display my scarves without any additional work.

This is basically how I have around 150 scarves mounted at my house. I don't remove any part of the binder clips, though, I just fold them down along either side of the scarf.

By putting the clips about 2 inches in from each side, I'm able to overlap the scarves as a I go.

Some pics may still be online. I'll look.

About once every 12-18 months, I take the scarves down and run them, in batches, through the dryer on low heat. That pulls what little dust has accumulated on them off.

It's also a good excuse to redo the layout and put up some scarves that have otherwise been in storage.

Okay, these pics are very old.
