Arsenal have accepted a bid for the Thierry Henry from Real Madrid. Real made a bid of thirty-million euros. What do you guys think of this. Opinions please.

Cite?

He'd never be sold for 30M Euros
Wenger said he'd only go for 200 M pounds, so add anothr zero to that euro figure...

SoccerAge is reporting it too...

http://www.soccerage.com/en/13/s7739.html

a selection from the article...

"According to the Spanish media, David Dein (an Arsenal representative) was in Seville on the weekend meeting with Real Madrid officials over the French striker's future.

Real Madrid has offered 30 million euros along with striker José Antonio Reyes and is waiting for Arsenal's reply."

I wish we would get a defensive player! Where will Henry play??

perhaps...

Zidane Beckham Figo
-----------Raul
-----Henry Ronnie

but then we have either no DMid or play 3 in the back (both which scare me because of Salgado and RCarlos' attacking tendencies)

Too many reasons to not believe this pap.

If Real went out & bought Lucio & perhaps Mexes, they'd be near unbeatable... who is it that plays beside Helguera at the back, anyway?

There is one simple reason to not believe this article, and that is in how the article starts. And I quote: "According to the Spanish media .............." Well, that's enough for me!! Case closed. We know it's garbage now. Arsenal would have to be CRAZY to accept what amounts to a 20 million pound offer from Real Madrid, and I am NOT an Arsenal fan. If ManU has to pay a 18 million pound transfer fee to get Mr. Stepover but go nowhere (Christiano Ronaldo), then Arsenal would be the dumbest club ever to allow Real (who has tons of money) to get the best offensive player in the premiership for only pennies more than that.

I have heard tell of a man named Raul Bravo... but perhaps there's a reason that his name is not so famous....

The majority of fans in Madrid know that Casillas is the only true stopper they have on defense.

what happened to the possibility of acquiring Puyol?

Helguera has been back in Dmid alongside Becks, and it's been Raul Bravo (19 out of 20 league games) and Pavon (18 games) at the back. Good kids, certainly (not that Raul Bravo could crack the Leeds team when he was on loan with them last season!), possibly even future stars, but you wonder what they could do with someone truly world-class at the back...

Oh, and they don't even own Reyes, so how could they trade him for Henry?

If Real Madrid comes out and denies the report in the next few days(as in Ronaldo & Beckham before), then Henry will be wearing Real Madrid white next season.

Ronaldos price was 12M sterling not 18 (the Mr Stepover shot is somewhat cheap as well).

Why would Arsenal sell Henry for 30M Euros when they already had an offer from Abramovich at approx 75M Euros? Wishful thinking from the Spanish press.....

Especially when they turned down 50mil pounds from Chelsea for him.

about the spanish sport press, well, anytime "as" has it on the front page, it is better to put some stock into it. i dont know how they do it, but they seem to be in the know more than we give them credit for. mind you, not that "as" is above the brit sport press in other matters...:)

and also, there is something about henry 'wanting' real madrid, and about the arse being in need of some small cash for their stadium, etc...

Arsenal have all the funding in place for the new stadium - this is why Wenger has now been given transfer funds which he was denied in Summer (when the funding of the stadium was not in place).

I honestly cannot see Henry going to Madrid right now unless Wenger went as well....

Henry to R. Madrid makes no sense. All the vaunted white money in Castille couldn't make Vieira move there even though he was less than committed to Arsenal. I have no clue what they would offer to Henry. First, Titi feels a strong allegiance to Wenger and to a lesser degree, Highbury. He is very comfortable and obviously successfully settled. This is not Zizou looking for playing space denied at Juve or Beckham smarting from a boot injury.
Second, even if Madrid offers $100 mil (beating Chelsea's 80), Arsenal still loses in the long run. The caliber of the players to replace him will be seriously less, the chances to win titles will be lessened, and the chances of filling up the new stadium will also be lessened. It's an all around loser.

peronally i can see the move happening
real would not offer the money to arsenal first they would go about it in the 5 stages described in a nother thread.
henry was clearly devastated at not winning the fifa world player of the year and he knows it would be a positive career move to join the team of the 20th century.
once perez starts working the magic and doing what he does best, persudaing players to join against all the odds, i can see henry being the new galactico
