Pretty self-explanatory. Great movie, bad DVD release. Doesn't have to be just a bad transfer, but just lack of extra's, or things like that.
The most obvious selection, for me, would be Goodfellas. The only version out is a TWO-SIDED DVD, with NO EXTRAS, at all.
The Criterion Withnail and I is also suprisingly boring. Just a 30 minute BBC documentary that's basically a bunch of trendy English celebs reciting their favorite lines.

Trainspotting.
Nothing but nothing.
I've heard Boyle and MacGregor doing commenatary over a showing of this before and it was excellent. Come on guys get with the program.

There was a Criterion laser disc with extra scenes and commentary. I've always been surprised it was never put out on DVD.

Is there a "full screen" on one side and "widescreen" on the other? Or do you have to turn the movie half-way?

You have to turn it over half-way. No kidding.

And people who bought Memento before the Special Edition came out have to be royally pissed.

Die Hard with a Vengence- abosolute worst transer i've ever seen. i couldn't believe how bad it was. i really like the movie, but especially with action flicks the transfer needs to be good. but it looked like total ass

DVD rights and Laser Disc rights are two separate negotiations. That's why much of Criterion's laser disc collection has not been transfered to DVD.

I don't mind bare bones DVDS. I have so many "Super Deluxe Plantium Series Extended Release" DVDs at home, and I hardly ever watch the second disc.
For me, I'd rather just have the damn movie .... so a Goodfellas disc with no extras doesn't bother me. Having to flip the disc sucks. But same with Godfather Part II, which is on two discs.
But bad DVDs .... my wife has a copy of Pride and Prejudice that looks like it was shot through a dirty screen door. Terrrrrible DVD.

There's a SE version of it now that is quite good.

Criterion, which is famous for the extras it creates for older films, released "Alphaville" with absolutely nothing at all. Not even a trailer.

I always love how companies try to decorate a bad DVD release with "extras" like "chapter search function" (!!!)

You either watch the whole movie or FF to the part you want to see or stop it where you want it and don't turn the DVD player off. While it is more or less standard, I've certainly seen my share without it.

Well, sure...but I'm talking about them really clutching at straws to list some sort of "special features" when they obviously have very little.

Trainspotting - there is a 2-disc R2 release with loads of extras, but we just get the barebones here in the US... its crap
U2:Rattle and Hum - I can't believe they couldn't put anything on other than a trailer... no extra footage, interviews, nothing
