Sounds like a reasonable proposal to me.
Thoughts?

Hilarious.
So the big clubs want to remain the biggest, by basing tranfers and wages on revenue. It's almost like trying to create a monopoly.
They're all pissed because some other clubs could spoil their little party. They've all spent ridiculous amounts for years, and as soon as another club (that doesn't know its place:rolleyes:) blows them out the water they dont like it one little bit...poor babies

Could've sworn I penned out a reply to this earlier today. Oh well, maybe it was deleted because a moderator didn't care too much for a good opinion.
'It's a good idea to start with and I hope it works as good in practise as it does in theory. However it would be good to study it a bit further in order to find any loopholes that could be exploited by the investors in question (no doubt there are some).'

I think that a salary cap on clubs would be better. This way clubs can spend as much in transfer as they want, however they will be limited by what they can pay overall.
The A league has the salary cap with the option to sign one marquee player per club. This means that there is a level playing field and the league remains competitive.
The league is three seasons old and has had three different champions.
In Australian rules football they have the same salary cap. This means that there is a more seaosnal level playing field. That is that a team that dominates one season may not necessarily follow the next season as players come out of contract and move on as they are not able to be paid more. They then move to another club that has room to spend and as a result add to the competitive ability of that team.
After seeing the farce that Leeds became I for one would love to see this rule enforced. However from previous posts I am somewhat of a romantic in football and would rather see different teams winning season in, season out than the same teams winning every year.
I for one think that owners of Chelsea & Man City are ruining the game with what they are doing.

I don't see what they have against transfer fees, they're zero sum. If some Sheik spends a hundred million on a player, that's a hundred million being put into the game for clubs to spend. Wages are the real problem, that's where money leaves the game.
Basing spending on revenue might work in theory, but in practice it would just cement the dominance of the top teams with their massive revenues. It makes me laugh hearing Wenger whining about City spending oil money, it's ok for him with his stadium's world record ticket revenues to talk like that.

Maybe some sort of system where a club can only have a certain number of players make a certain amount in wages per season.

See my previous post, this is called a salary cap.
