according to bob lenarduzzi the whitecaps are looking to sign david xausa who currently plays for falkirk in the scottish 1st div to a three year contract.it also said that xausa would be the first whitecap to ever sign a multi year deal.

Thats odd. Didn't the caps sign Nick Dasovic to a multi year contract last year?

Perhaps Bob's on drugs.

I don't doubt that. What I don't understand is how Lenarduzzi can claim it will be the first multi-year contract considering he was claiming that when he signed Dasovic last season.

Speaking of Lenarduzzi, I've been converting a lot of CSL games from tape to DVD. Man Lenarduzzi has a foul mouth, I'm glad TSN had a microphone so close to him to share it with us all. The guy swears more than I, and thats something.

xausa in the lineup will add a new dynamic,it might also mean that corazzin might be headed back to europe.as any astute observer could see corazzin was easily the top player in the league talent wise when he settled in last season.he will probably be back in the second division soon.dont be surprised to see either cobi jones or jorge campos with the caps for next season.campos bought a house and vineyard in oliver b.c. and could be talked into it,jones was not offered a contract by the MLS by their deadline and has said he will play in the A-league next season.

Whitecaps already have one of the top keepers in the league in Mike Franks. What would they gain in signing Campos? A few extra Mexican fans and a huge salary? Lets face it there's less than 2000 seats per game available and they are empty because no-one wants to sit in those seats because they are crappy with a poor view.

It wouldn't make sense.

franks was pretty inconsistent last year.campos to expensive,he would play for about 60-000-80-000 the same as corazzin last season.the caps will draw a lot better next season, they allways draw great crowds during a euro/world cup.june is usually their poorest showing attendance wise, and usually draw a couple of 6000+when soccer awareness rises just a bit, the caps benefit.it will be a great summer for soccer next summer.

You've got to be kidding me. Franks played in 22 games last year winning 13, drawing 5 and losing just 4 times. He had a GAA of just 0.77 and you say he was inconsistent? Rubbish. You make most of this BS up.

As for attendance, you can't tell me anything about it. I follow the attendance and keep track of it. Attendance DROPS during euro/world cup events because casual fans are soccered out. The ywatch so much of it on TV and don't want to go to the stadium to watch the locals live. Attendance has rised in Vancouver in certain years depending on weather, and how games are scheduled (how many times a season the go against Lions and Canadians games on the same night). On average at Swangard stadium the Whitecaps draw the same nearly every year. Over 4000 a game and it's very uncomfortable.

Check out my site regarding the attendance figures:

Plissken you've got to get off the sauce. Cobi f*ing Jones drawing crowds in Vancouver? Campos couldn't draw flies in the MLS. I think you're taking the piss.

While I'm at it, Franks also played both Whitecaps playoff games last season, allowing just one goal and losing in neither game. Whitecaps didn't lose a game in the playoffs last year, drawing 0-0 in Seattle and 1-1 in Vancouver. Seattle advanced on PK's.

Franks did look solid last year and was surprised he was overlooked as goalie of the year. Don't think he even received any honourable mention.

BTW, Corazzin should be back and better than ever. Think he had a goal-scoring rate that ranked in the top 5 of last year's top scorers. With him scoring in Canada's friendly against Barbados, looks like he's back to form and should have an outstanding season with the Whitecaps along with Jason Jordan and David Xausa (when we sign him).

Xausa is better than Corazzin IMO. Don't see the benefits of signing Campos either.

Well, his international experience displays that and the level of soccer he has played. Personally, I think it would be great to have them both out there together. Xausa is more of a target man - big, tall, and great at keeping hold of the ball. Corazzin is more of a striker, who prefers to use his feet. Together, think they should complement each other well (the above is all contingent on Xausa signing off course).

Think it's exciting enough that we can even talk to guys like Xausa now and try to attract them to Vancouver! Not something we could do before, unless you count the good ole days of the Whitecaps when we won the Soccer Bowl!

I don't see Jones signing with Vancover. If he does sign with an A-league side more than likely it would be Rochester or Charleston.

Let me second that. That suggestion was out of left field to say the least.
I also would like to differ with WhitecapsFC. I would consider Corazzin a target man, a classic back to goal player. Xausa doesn't strike me that way at all. I hope he does well at Vancouver as his game has gone into the toilet since he moved to Scotland (quite some time ago).

The Whitecaps haven't announced any signings. I doubt they'll sign another keeper, they'll probably go with Franks and Marques, with Postma as third string.

Its ironic that Lenarduzzi rushed over during a match a couple of years ago to to shut up a few Timbers fans who were swearing. Seemed like a nice enough guy though.

I guess he thinks its okay in the heat of the game. My favourite Lenarduzzi scream came when an 86ers player was refusing to give an opposing player the ball for a free kick. The camera pans in on Lenarduzzi's face just as he yells "give it to him-even though he's a big pu$$y!"

Classic.
