I'm doing some research into swearing/bad language/obscenities shouted at football matches around the world in all nations and languages.

Do any of the users of this forum have any examples they can share (in the native language and with an English translation).

Thanks.

Everytime they do a close up in the English league, you can guarantee that you will lip read atleast 50 "******** off's"

- Tu Madre

- Idiota

Actually there was just one last week at the A-League. I'm not entirely sure if it's a player (likely), or crowd member (even more likely), but it's at 7:42 in this set of highlights:

Beckham got sent off in a match at the end of 2003-04 season. basically, he was shouting, "P#t#A" at the linesman. I did not know Spanish. Later, I got my translation here in bigsoccer.

If we don't get into insults* and stay with the player who missed his unmissing chance at the 89th minute, the most common in French are "putain", "merde", "bordel" or "fait chier". :o

*including "I'd rather like your sister"

Yea I generally see players saying "Putain" when they mess up, i.e. miss a peno, or give up a bad free kick and get carded, kind of thing. When I take the garbage out of the can and the bottom of the bag rips, I generally say "Putain" :D

A boludo is a nut-sack and pelotudo is a hairy nut-sack. It is actually used as a term of endearment as much as an insult. I guess the easiest translation would be ballsy. You can also use it like using dumbass.

My personal favorite is hijo de ******** or son of a bitch.

My personal favorite is hijo de ******** or son of a bitch.

It can also be translated as "bad non-call of a foul by the referee."
