US soccer takes its game Uptown! Boldly going where no AO watching party has gone before, the intrepid American Outlaws will be having our party for the Sweden friendly at CHRISTIE'S UPTOWN SPORTS BAR!

WHO: DFW American Outlaws
WHAT: Watching Party for USA v. Sweden international friendly
WHEN: Sat Jan 24 starting at 7:00 PM
WHERE: Christie's Sports Bar in Uptown

THE POOP. Christie's will turn their TVs to the pregame starting at 7:00 PM and will have it on two big screens through the final whistle. If any of you are interested in stuff like this, Christie's is also hosting the Texas v. A&M basketball game.

THE SPECIAL. Christie's will run their Happy Hour prices for Shiner Bock draft ($4 for 16 oz draft), bottles ($4.25), and buckets (6 for $23.50) from 7:00 - 10:00 for people in our group.

THE PARKING. Parking in Uptown sucks! Have you made any arrangements? Yes, of course! Christie's will open their underground parking level behind their building, that has about 300 spaces, more than enough for our needs. It's behind the building, look for balloons tied to the open gate.

THE AMBIANCE. Since Christie's is not our permanent home, we won't be able to do everything that we can do in our permanent home. We will still have our membership table and be able to chant and yell and stuff. We won't have confetti.

THE PARTY. It's been two months since any USA international or MLS action, and this will be a great warm-up to WCQ and the 2009 MLS season! So come on out, reconnect with old soccer faces, meet some new ones in Uptown (they're there, I met 3 yesterday), and start off the soccer year with a USA win and (hopefully) a Cooper goal!

PARKING DETAILS. It's free.

Christie's offers two places to park, both on the back side (off Howell St.) of the building.

The first is the covered parking on the surface. This will almost certainly be full, but it's always worth a try. You can get to this covered garage two ways:
A. Southbound on McKinney, turn right on Worthington (McKinney Ave. Tavern will be on your left). Turn right at the first curb cut into the covered parking.
B. Southbound on McKinney, turn right on Worthington. Turn right on Howell St. Turn right on the last curb cut before Vine St.

The second is the 300-car garage mostly used for the office building. To get there:
B. Southbound on McKinney, turn right on Worthington. Turn right on Howell St. Turn right on the garage down-ramp directly across from Vine St. Look for balloons and a huge piece of HVAC equipment.

Once you're in the garage:
Go to the elevator lobby, which will be marked with balloons. Go up to the ground floor where you'll be in a glass-enclosed lobby. Exit through either door, one will take you into a courtyard, the other into the covered parking. If you go into covered parking, walk around the elevator to the courtyard door.

Once you're in the courtyard:
Look to your left for the easel and balloons for Christie's entrance. Can't miss it!

IF YOU MISS THE TURNS: Howell/McKinney/Worthington make a "circle" so just keep taking rights and you'll find your way.
