With 16 matches left, can we get enough points to save ourselves? I will still go for a 40 points as a benchmark for us to escape relegation...let's see...

Remaining Games:
Stoke (H) - W
Bolton (A) - L
Arsenal (H) - W. This will end their title chase and put them in where they belong, the UEFA cup next season. :D
Hull (A) - D
Sunderland (A) - L
Middlesbrough (H) - W
Aston Villa (A) - L
Chelsea (H) - D
Blackburn (A) - L
West Ham (H) - W
Newcastle (H) - W. This game could decide if Spurs or Newcastle go down.
Man Utd (A) - L
WBA (H) - W
Everton (A) - L
Man City (H) - W
Liverpool (A) - L

44 points...should be enough to survive this season...just barely :o

How I see it...

Remaining Games:
Stoke (H) - W - Absolutely need to get 3 points from this at the Lane
Bolton (A) - D - Never seem to play well at the Reebok, I think a point should be fair
Arsenal (H) - D - Doubt the streak gets broken this season. Home form has not been great.
Hull (A) - W - Should be able to take care of business here.
Sunderland (A) - L - Another trip that most likely ends with 0 points
Middlesbrough (H) - W - Boro seem to be struggling at the moment, but that could change
Aston Villa (A) - L - Can't see Spurs hanging with Villa
Chelsea (H) - D - If Scolari is still in a job by this time, keep it as a draw, if not, W
Blackburn (A) - L - Big Sam has the Rovers playing well
West Ham (H) - W - No explanation
Newcastle (H) - W - This is the game the season hinges on IMO
Man Utd (A) - L - No chance, especially with a close title race
WBA (H) - W - Another big game
Everton (A) - D - Can see a point being stolen here
Man City (H) - W - Would love to stuff them at the Lane
Liverpool (A) - L - I hate ending the season playing these guys

So I'm going with 49 points to end the season on. Albeit a little optimistic.

It could really go either way. I can say i hope they pull a fulham and stay up but then i just second guess myself and say that even with good signings they'll still need time to adjust to eachother. Who knows, we'll just have to wait and see.

IMO I don't think we need to be thinking about this until 8 games left cause it is so close between 6th through 20th. Don't sound the alarms yet guys.

I think we should be fine. A little to early for the warning bells.

Says it all. We aren't going to get a good idea of which of the bottom 10 teams are really in trouble until March some time.

Interesting to speculate on the final points total though. I'm pretty sure teams have stayed up with 35, 36 in recent seasons, but the spread top to bottom is less this year so maybe 40 is a good target.

Hoping we can win the Carling Cup cause then we will be automatically in Europe and then we can really be looking forward to next year.

Too early for this. Its so tight that they could go on a run the next few weeks and be in the top half.

Really, you can't compare Spurs 2009 with Fulham last season.... two completely situations. Fulham were in dire straits at this point... smaller club, well in the relegation zone, several points from safety, no form, no proven goalscorers..... Spurs are in a much better situation... if there not careful, they could get into the zone again but with how tight the premiershp is this season you can be at the bottom one day, have a couple of results go your way and then be in the top ten the next... there are several clubs who are in way bigger trouble imo... Portsmout, Newcastle, Boro, Stoke, WBA just to name a few...

well...at least my final points tally will be 44 points. That would probably be good enough for us to stay up.

even though on paper we're by far the best team down there, i'm worried.

I've got us finishing on 37 pts now, with pretty pessimistic match predictions. It could be very close. And if it is... well, at least we have the right manager for THAT.

Goal difference will be our saviour and separate us from the Toon, Pompey etc. Other than that it will be a typical Spurs nail biter... better let them grow out a bit until the last week. :p
