Don't worry, rest easy. AW has said he has not made a bid for Dafoe. I think one of the sources I read it was on Arsenal-mania.

Too much for Defoe! Thanks for the info., Gary. Nice to see you posting.

I agree we need someone to aid in scoring and the injuries of a long season take a toll on a club, but Defoe is NOT my 1st choice.

Well, looks as if our friend Alan Smith can be had on the cheap as Leeds are scheduled to go into administration as early as next Monday. Newcastle has apparently offered 2 million pounds as of now. Although I absolutely hate the guy, he might do us some good.

Anybody got an idea on what he would cost? Highest bid would be?????

That's right folks, within a weeks time you can have Alan Smith using the F word every other minute on YOUR pitch for a basement bargain value of 2 million quid!

Defoe's crap. We have much better younger strikers than him.

Remember, if Aliadiere had started playing for the first team at 18, he value would be probably at over 10 million now. Defoe got lucky in that West Ham had no good strikers so they had to go with their youth.

I'd rather if Aliadiere (when he comes back), Bentley (will make the break through at the end of this season), Quincy, and Papa.
I also hear this Anthony Stokes is a very good young prospect.

Am I the only one here that thinks Defoe is a good fit? I liked him from a coupla seasons ago when all he used to do is come off the bench and score. He's got youth on his side, so we can build for the future now. His strike rate is pretty damn good (something like 60 goals in 136 matches). Much better, I'd imagine, than Alan Smith's (who I don't even rate as a striker). I can't believe anyone would rather Smith. With his reputation and an Arsenal shirt on his back, he'd miss half the games on suspension!

While I think Defoe is a good player, with the young strikers we have at the club already I don't think he's needed. Aliadiere and Bentley have been making impressions on the first team and Henry has plenty of years left in him. And at £8m he's a bit over-priced when you think you could have Smith for £2m, Viduka for about the same and Larsson on a free at the end of the season. Oh, and don't forget Jeffers is coming back from Everton.
