Not really Arsenal related (unless you count the fact that Lehman hates Oliver Kahn), but Kahn has won his appeal against EA Sports concerning his name and likeness being used in the game FIFA 2002 even though EA had obtained permission through the International Players Union. EA is going to appeal to Federal Court, but if the decision is upheld it may be the last time real players can be used in a video game (Hard to think that EA would have the time, money, or staff to cut a deal with each and every player on every team in the 40+ leagues they usually include).

So, if you sometimes play soccer video games, the times they are a changin'.

Wow, Kahn sure is no fun - I heard most professional players love it when they're in a game. Some of the players even check their own stats to make sure they're accurate (with some of the guys even complain that their stats aren't upto snuff with similar players). I would think EA paid some $$$ to the various leagues and player unions to use player likenesses, team and stadium graphics, etc. I mean, it's a way for the leagues to promote themselves too - EA has the biggest selling video game sports franchises.

Kahn probably sued EA Sports because they didn't make him look ugly enough.

About half way down the page, you will a man who fell off the ugly tree, and hit ALL the branches on the way down.

KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNN!

Seriously, though, this probably means that EA will have to start talking with the individual PFA's to get their likenesses, just like they do with Madden, NBA Live, etc. My guess is they won't do this with, say, the Norwegian PFA, so we'll probably lose a lot of the lesser players. I'm also curious as to how this will affect the management simulation games, like the highly addictive Arsenal Club Manager game.

Basically Lehman feels he should be Germany's #1 and that Kahn is only holding on now due to his reputation. There's no love lost between these 2 guys, for sure.
