I was just thinking about what mine was so I figured I would throw this question out to you guys to see which Arsenal crest is your favorite?
I love the white cannon on red. Simple and bold.
When they released the current crest design, I could not stand it. However, it has kind of grown on me.
What do you think?

Gotta go with old-school one, the one with the cannon facing the proper way...

The old red kits, white cannon facing left is priceless. I really need to get one of those strips.

I don't know if I'm allowed to say it on Big Soccer anymore...but you can get those old strips at a certain store in NYC with the initials O.B. ;)
I did.

As far as crest on the shirt, I think the single white cannon is the way to go.
I'm also very partial to the 1930s Art Deco crest logo.
Either way, the new one is painful. I really hate it. Ugly, corporate, soulless.

I buy 'em online from TOFFS. Have a couple, but the exchange rate was much, much better back then.
Excuse a newbie's question, but what's the problem with um, that place in the East Village?

The cannon does it for me , followed by the 1930's AFC design, whilst on the subject of crests, spurs have decided to use a new one next season, it's a picture of a gravy boat, which keeps with the tradition of always being in the middle of the table.

I saw the old skool kit at the 'unyan beg' the same day as the 2nd leg carling cup game v 'boro. They might be gone by now though.

forgot to answer the question: I'm all for the current crest - -it has a basic design, i.e. canaon and "Arsenal" good shape and is easy to read and recognize compared to some other team crests. I reckon this is also good for future worldwide marketing of the team.
Like it or not, marketing on the global stage has to be part of Arsenal's future inorder to remain competitive and grow bigger as a club. Marketing will increase revenue and also increase interest from foreign players and foreign fans. Ofcourse, all of this presupposes that Arsenal wins trophies and does well in the CL. HWR, the club looks to be positioning itself well to be able to take advantage of the success that it hopes/expects to acheive shortly and the increased interest that should follow.

I got mine last May. Right before the FA final. I've been to the *#*# several times while visiting my friend in NYC but when I got the old school (all red, white long sleeve, simple white cannon) shirt, I ordered it from them online. It took a while for them to get it for me. I think I actually ordered it in early April and then was sweating whether it would be delivered before the FA final. It was, but barely.

I don't know the exact story but it has something to do with "that place in the East Village" previously being a partner with the BS store you see advertised to your left....but no longer.

White Canon! Yes we need an image for worldwide marketing, but, can't go with current "logo". It already looks like it belongs in the 90's! Give it another few years and it'll look really naff!

I like the real old big "A" with the old football, like on the wall tile in the Highbury loo!

The reason we have got the new badge (NO CHARACTER,HISTORY) is because Arsenal did not own the old one. So any one could copy it without their consent. This all started with Arsenal taking a stall holder to court as he sold arsenal t-shirts etc outside the ground and arsenal were not getting a cut. It ended up in the european court, arsenal won,but so it would not happen again they changed the badge/crest and made it their trade mark so no body else can use it.

True, but other clubs have faced this problem. I read that Spurs had the same issue with copyright, made a change that kept the essential character of the original, and secured a trademark.
I can't believe I'm actually complimenting Spurs for doing something right. I better go lie down now....
That they couldn't trademark the old crest is no excuse for giving us such a crummy new one.

Here's a new version I worked up, greatly based on an idea I saw in Gunflash. It's a mix of old and new, to update without losing the essential qualities of the old crest.
I don't like my cannon, but I'm not very good at drawing in Illustrator yet.
Thoughts?

I'm also working on another few designs, will post here when done if anybody's interested.
