I will leave next week.
If you want to rob my home, I'll be gone from Jan 21 until Feb 2. ;)

Any Peruchos going to be around Lima/Callao to have a few beers with me?

Lucky bastard. I wish I was going back.

Stay in La Punta. It's so nice there. But if you do wander off, Miraflores, San Isidro and Barranco are your best bets. Especially Barranco. Tell the girls your from America, and your good as gold.

Have fun Geno, hope you have a great time.

I just got a new PC.
Plan on getting a cheap camera or may go digital, so if I ever find out how to create a page, I'll have to post pics here!

I have been to all those places and have family all over. I used to live in La Punta (various uncles live there) and grandma still lives in Chucuito.

I am staying with the in-laws in Gambetta Baja in Callao near the river Rimac and Ramon Castilla, they have yet to reach pueblo joven status. :) I be in da hood wit my peeps!

My mom came to the USA in 1970. I was born in 1971. I have been back and forth for years, but my mom has never been back. She is suffering from (post) pollio and has a major heart condition, so keep her in your thoughts. I hope she doesn't get too excited. 34 years away from La Patria is too long, but my dad and the doctors have given her the OK.

Lo siento. She's in my prayers.

Just when we thought we had all plans set, we got some really bad news.

This seems to have turned into a prayer thread. Maybe I will start one where we can all add people who need prayers. Hey, the power of prayer is soooooo Latino and in numbers only makes our bond stronger!

My cousin Gustavo, 25 years old, two degrees, one in International business and another in Peruvian Culinary Arts, started a business, bought a new car, totally fit and great soccer player and overall great guy has Lukiemia.

Treatment started right away and we will have to wait and see how he takes to treatment. I will be giving a sample to the doctors when I am down in Peru to see if I am a match for a possible marrow donation. If I am, I will be staying a bit longer if needed.

The family has yet to tell my mom or grandmother. We are all going for my abuelita's birthday. We plan to tell my mom before we leave, but will wait until we get to Peru before we tell grandma. We think that if we are all there, grandma will have more support. My mom's side of the family is very emotional, very Italiano-Peruano.

My uncle, Gustavo's father and my mom's brother, lost his high-paying job a year ago. This was related to politics, ie: political spoils, and he has not yet found a new job and has no more insurance. He spends all day at the hospital even though he only gets to see his son for a few minutes a day. He spends every minute of the day near his son.

My grandmother doesn't know why everyone is so depressed and why her son has not called her or visited her in the past month.

My uncles asks God...why not me when I have had a full life? Why such a young and beautiful kid with so much future ahead of him?

Gustavo also has two sisters who lived in Columbus, but moved to Tampa a few months ago. They have not been told either. I don't know about this secret treatment, but they would just fall apart and return to Peru in a second.

Thanks for letting me get out of my system.

Please hear our prayers.

your family members are in my prayers

can i ask you garcia

in what hospital is your cousin being treated?

Garcia

Condor, my uncle was doing well for himself and his family at his old position and took him to various private clinics in Lima. These are said to have the best doctors and all that stuff.

I can't remember all of the places he took them. I remember la Clinica Ricardo Palma, but he was taken to others. In fact, they couldn't find any problems. His major symptoms were major headaches and pain in the legs. Nobody was satisfied so they got second, third and forth opinions.

By this time, my uncle was feeling the money pinch. Not working in so long and no insurance was starting to cause concerns. In one of these less glamorous more public hospitals they decided to try a test, just to eliminate possible sicknesses, and found his illness.

He was sent to the Neoplastica the very day they got test positive test results and started treatment. He is there today.

I used to pass by this place when I went to school in Peru a year ago. It looks like a nice place on the outisde, and for my money, that's where I would want to be treated.

Pretty sweet.

The shirt looks good, too. :)

I talked to the girls and found the jersey, but when I told them you wanted it in size Small, they laughed, left me and took the jersey away.
