Wish he had done this May. Going out with a major trophy win instead of an injury.

Yes, too bad. I'll always remember that save in the FA semi-finals last year. Peschisolido's (sp?) header looked like a sure equalizer until Seaman reached backward and pawed it away. Great stuff.

It would have been nice to see him walk out of Cardiff as the Arsenal Captain in his final game, but I completely respect the man for beleiving in his ability to help another prem. club. That's a lot of what made him so great, that spirit he had.
Does anyone know if Arsenal will be doing anything to commemorate this? Oftentimes in the US a player who has left the club where he had the most success he will sign a contract with that club and retire simultaneously so that he can say he "retired a Gunner".
Perhaps Arsenal could do something along those lines, or at least have a half-time dedicated to him and his service to the club. Might be a pretty pile of cash in all those "David Seaman Day" T-shirts and programs (in case the AFC Marketing Department is listening)

for me.. the good times were wonderful but i'll always remember seaman for the Ronaldinho gaffer against Brazil in the '02 WC or the 95 Cup winners Cup final against real zaragoza when he let in that massive looping kick (former sperz player, ffs, cant remember it)...
and me girlfriend from Birmingham kept claiming he has the biggest wanker in the world sans dion dublin... too much info

the former Spurs player was Nayim.
as for the second part of your post, that falls under the "Too Much Information" category :)

Seaman was an ever presence in the box. It's surprising how he was able to keep clean sheets.

I'm sure this wasn't how he planned to end his career, but just the same I hope Arsenal (and the FA) find a fitting way to honor him for his great career.
Great link, L19!

Forgot to mention he was just 2 league games away from playing at Highbury again (assuming he was fit) on 1 Feb. Would hate it if I bought tickets from a tout to go to that game.

Watching a SkySports report on Seamans retirement. Fabulous fact, in winning the 1991 title with Arsenal, Seaman let in 19 goals, the entire season.
Well Done

That's the f-ing funniest thing I have seen in a while.
He was born to be a porn star with that pony tail and 70's moustache.

In the short few years of following the EPL, Seaman made some amazing saves and was a true Arsenal legend. Goodbye, he will be truly missed. Just sorry that an injury forced him into retirement.
He rides off into the sunset to...dare I say, open a hair salon....just kidding.
