Since indoor soccer and futsal leagues, clinics and camps can earn owners/investors an annual turnover of $200-250k (depending on number of courts available), why are there no indoor soccer fields or futsal courts in Washington, DC????

The nearest facilities are beyond the Beltway in Springfield (VA) and Rockville (MD) and are thriving 7 days a week from late October thru April.

Any facility in the city or near Metro inside the Beltway could potentially double the earnings of those existing facilities.

DC has over 5000 kids who play soccer, over 2000 adults who play rec and competitive ball, 4 major colleges (none of which have the proper surface for indoor or futsal...ally gyms are hardwood) and hundreds more young urban adults who've moved into the city have no place for competitive recreation in the Winter. Not to mention the incredible Hispanic, African, Caribbean and Asian communities who all play or attend soccer.

So any old warehouse building that could host 2 indoor turf fields, 2 futsal tile courts and have them lined for youth and adult play could dominate the market not only for DC but the entire Metropolitan area.

I am at a loss for why this has not happened yet?

Thats because Most of DC Soccer fans dont live in the district..!! especially on the SE and Lower SE side where the population Is like 90% Black(american) then You have the NW side which is Mostly where the Govt area and Nicer areas are at You could get something there, but it be hard to get a decent place. then the NE side Is pretty much changing before it was much like the SE side in yrs past. But Every day demographics changed Butyou have a strong Black (American) population that resides there.... Most DC soccer fans are or have foreign ties.. Green belt like you mentioned earlier is a decent example of some diversity around New carollton and lanham you have several hispanic and african immigrants. But there are alot more on the VA side of metro DC. DC is always know to be the commuter place. People work in DC but dont live there. ... It would be nice if DCU would do better Job in getting along with the DC city council and even the communities in SE, and NE especially... personally I dont think they ( DCU) have done enough. If they have they would have been built the Popular point project by now.
