I managed a 4-1 away win to last year's #3 team.

We split the series last season, so to win away shocked me. Especially as I was down 1-0 early.

My midfield rating was outstanding and my new forward grabbed a goal. Pressing was "weak" but it seemed to work for me in this one.

Now to prepare for the BigSoccer bragging rights in the Cup on Wednesday.

Deuteriumoxide, we are expecting a full house as the traveling Kopites are on their way to fill your hovel of a stadium ;)

I really expected to lose this match but decided to mix it up and see what happened. The Hattrick gods smiled upon me. Check it out....

I went for the Press (PIC) and tried to get as much midfield help as possible using 1 wing to middle and a couple of CDs (really IMs with decent defensive skills) set to offensive. We split the midfield battle and I got enough chances (and finished them properly) to come away with the tie. Great start to the season considering I was really expecting to be blown out.

I wonder how much my team psychologist helped out with the finishing. I really expected to lose the match and need his services to get the team ready for the following games. Experience probably aided some too...

Was a pretty ugly match that I lost 2-0. Plus one of my best players was injured. :(

Well, we were in good stead going into the match, as I had a transfer that closed bidding at 00:43 and cleared with literally about thirty seconds to spare on getting my orders in. Having prepared for the eventuality, the moment it went through, the guy was in my lineup. Club officials aren't saying anything, but there are reports of some consultants from Paramount on the travel staff. ;)

On to the match itself... it was a back-and-forth affair, neither team missed a chance, and BBFC stole a 4 - 3 win on the road at the demotee from IV! The end of the match was particularly nervewracking for the Meyerland XI, as we saw our best midfielder (an outstanding that I acquired Thursday for $1.561 MM) sent off in the 66th minute (resulting in 68% possession for the home team in the 2nd half, after taking the first half at 55% ).

Both newcomers got a goal, as did league scoring runner-up Jeesus Alkula. BBFC scored a team-record 64 Hatstats rating and will be looking to improve on that in our next home match.

The series looks to be wide open; the demotee is a good team who were unlucky to lose the match we just played. They're also a PM trainer, so I'll almost certainly need to make a major acquisition later in the season to keep up with the Joneses. The other competition for the title is another keeper trainer with a much better trainee than I have, and slightly better all-around ratings. For some reason, I've always done well head-to-head with them.

We're stockpiling ape shit from the lab underneath the field to fling at your players. You may win Wednesday but we just ordered new aluminum studs for all the player boots. We have the equipment people sharpening them as I type this.

And just for the hovel comment, i'm putting in all the nasty players.

I must say, I'm really enjoying this back and forth. Hilarious. And it keeps Mark from making fun of me for only winning 1-0 over the bot :)

Lost 4-1. Pity. Looks like 4th spot this season will be practically assured.

Youth pull for the week was an inad. PM. He is 17, so I'm not entirely disappointed.

One CD was Passable and one was Inadequate. Without their help, and based off of my typical midfield ratings, I would expect a midfield rating of weak against a team of Ginobili's calibre. Against this superior team, I figured my best chance was to go for the best midfield I could get to stave off his attacks and maybe finish more of mine.

My defense would have been better without the offensive CDs, but I'd have likely lost the midfield battle and he definitely would have been better able to assault my goal.

My new solid GK in passable form also helped immensely.

ugh, got blasted 6-0 in my league match despite having the better of possession in both halves...

had my top IM injured in the first cup game so without him and my solid GK on weak form I had no chance...

think I'm looking good to win the cup match on wed tho...

Had a nice 7-1 win at home against the number 4 team. It was 2-1 when his starting goalie got injured, he's now out for five weeks, and my team just tore apart his replacement, going for 5 unanswered goals, I finished with 86% possession which was nice. Now on to the cup and another bot team. Hopefully my midfield trainees can come through. I am inserting some first teamers that I want to get the exp. boost from the game though, so I should be fine. In league though next week, I play a newly promoted team that pulled a star rating close to mine this week, so we will see what happens.

I take that back, the team I play is no longer a bot, I just checked, and he is now a human player. It must have just happened today, because the bot had played the game yesterday, so this Wednesday will be his first match. I think I'll give him an appropriate welcome. It does put a damper on my scouting though.

I had the same problem with my first cup opponent. I had no idea what he would run since he had not played a game yet. Figure, overall your players should outclass his. Just hope you can score more goals than I did against mine :(

OK. Too quiet. I'm in the midst of scouting the wily Edmond Rovers, my Cup opponent from Oklahoma. It's amazing the info you can deduce from reading lineups and rosters. I know my opponent trains PM and likes to attack on the wing. Couple of his normal starters are injured. I know what position all but two of his players are.

I can't wait til tomorrow night. BTW: for anyone interested it will be buck night at The Thunder Dome so come and join the fun :)

I got my brother signed up into HT and boy am I jealous. He got a starting roster with 5 solids on it. Four of the players are solid in primary skills, a GK, a Forward, and 3, count'em, 3 IMs!

Boy am I jealous. But very happy for him.

He's fwd57, team: Panoz, 229562 of V. 241

Ah, beginner's luck. I wonder what his youth pull was....
I'll have to ask...

lost my first league game 2-0... really need to up my midfield.

sold off a defender for 2.3 million, so i'm looking to improve my team in general. sadly, it seems that i'm never around when the transfer deadlines hit. anyone know of any sites that would provide that info (prime time for transfer deadlines per country)? being a college student and all, i keep some pretty strange hours, and i'm usually not around when any of the major deadlines (us, sverige, nederland) hit.

and man, that sounds like an awesome team to start out with.
