Here's my youth pull for the week:

Ellis Lundy (27366421)
17 years, passable form, healthy
A sympathetic guy who is temperamental and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities.

Speciality: Head

Nationality: USA
Assessed value: 50 000 US$

Stamina: weak Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: poor
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: poor

I'm tempted to keep this guy and train him up in playmaking. I like his leadership and age, that's for sure........but he may be on the transfer list soon.

First week with a passable youth squad, also the first decent guy i've ever pulled.

I'm excited. I also happen to train strikers.

This is the first week mine went to passable as well. I know the YP is still a lottery, but come on, give me someone I can put on the TL for at least 20K to recoup my investment every week.

I pulled an 18 yo passable keeper...listed over in the transfer thread. I went to passable 4 weeks ago and this is the 2nd sellable player I've gotten. If I didn't need the money I wouldn't be selling him.

This should be pretty good for me...I'm listing him at $70000 and I project he'll end up at $95000. Some bids this week are going as high as $115000, so maybe i'll get lucky.

Last week's youth pull sold for $3,000, woo-hoo!

This week's is a toughie. Two solids but in minor areas.

that guy, if you trained scoring for a while could be a good dude. because you need passing for scorers

But it would take a long time to make him worthwhile. Weak scoring is not a good starting point to train from.

OK...so I was really bored. I did this for fun just to see which countries were the most fanatical supporters of Hattrick (this is active users as of today, not including bots). As expected, we Americans were pretty low down on the list (50th out of 76). The top countries are:

1) Faeroes - 1 franchise per 238 people
2) Sweden - 1:293
3) Switzerland - 1:326
4) Denmark - 1:381
5) Estonia - 1:488
6) Belgium - 1:565
7) Netherlands - 1:613
8) Finland - 1:641
9) Norway - 1:904
10) Iceland - 1:964
11) Portugal - 1:1101
12) Israel - 1:1494
13) Argentina - 1:1629
14) Spain - 1:1845
15) Latvia - 1:2035
16) Austria - 1:2268
17) Romania - 1:2456
18) Croatia - 1:3119
19) Uruguay - 1:3573
20) Poland - 1:3765

49) Columbia - 1:53,950
50) United States - 1:62,008
51) Turkey - 1:75,753

76) Iran - 1:15,661,364

There are currently five countries who will expand if every applicant on the waiting lists are granted franchises: Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania and (again) Sweden.

Ah...the joys of retirement and having not a thing to do all day.

I made it into KC last night. Enjoying a nice, lazy Sunday with my family.

Got my brother to get on the HT waiting list. I hope he gets hooked and we get something else in common to help us keep in touch.

I need all of your help to do a rain dance for the Texas region. I'm taking on the #1 in my series and playing my powerful guys. Hoping to pull something like a Norway-Svierge thing.

I'm leaving Saturday at the latest, so a late Friday is out of the question for me. Y'all stay as long as you like, but I'm looking forward to hooking up with you guys.

30 minutes until the first regular season game...it seems like a year ago we were talking about our last game of the season...I hate waits this long...going to do some last minute checks.

Dallas Red Knights are playing a team that just changed owners. We are going to play it normal, AOW w/ a 3-5-2. Also the only player that is for sale just had a bid on him, $10k less than I wanted to sell him for, but every little bit helps.

I pulled a poor midfield rating!!

Won my first league match 7-1 playing a 4-3-3 with three inner mids.

One of my striker trainees got a hat trick.

won 5-nil, 67/76%, 5 different scores, only clean sheet in my series, and face the demoted team next week. Might pic it w/a 5-4-1 counter attack.

I tied 2-2. They scored the equalizer with a passable attack versus a mythical defence. I was slightly peeved. Ah well, I'll just have to get them the last game of the season.

Dropped to second on goal differential. I won 1-0 at home with 5500 in attendance. Tried a new formation to keep the cup opponent guessing and to get experience with another for options later.

Lost 2-0. Won the MF battle (Barely), but got pressed and ran into a hot GK. Also gambled by playing a few backups to psych out my cup opponent. Oh well--I'll get them next time.

The team that recently demoted from div. iv beat last-year's 2nd place team 4-0. I have them next week--looks like a PIC (hope I win my cup game.....). On the bright side, the two bottom teams look terrible, so I think I can avoid auto-relegation. Also, the 2nd place team beat the tird place team 6-0 (the 3rd place team finished with 9 men after losing three to injuries and only having one sub). Looks like a weird year for my series.

I tied the #1 relegated team (who is better than last year's team) at his place, 3-3. Woo Hoo!

I really expected to lose this match but decided to mix it up and see what happened. The Hattrick gods smiled upon me. Check it out....

I went for the Press (PIC) and tried to get as much midfield help as possible using 1 wing to middle and a couple of CDs (really IMs with decent defensive skills) set to offensive. We split the midfield battle and I got enough chances (and finished them properly) to come away with the tie. Great start to the season considering I was really expecting to be blown out.

I wonder how much my team psychologist helped out with the finishing. I really expected to lose the match and need his services to get the team ready for the following games. Experience probably aided some too...
