How long have you been training playmaking?
I got two inner mids to go up yesterday, a 19 year old to excellent and 20-something to formidable. Yeah!

Nice.....now win your game (and I win mine - and we can finally play comp. against each other.
Actually - we will each need to win twice to meet (watch out for Mechanic FC - my Brother-in-Law's squad is pretty good.)

Dang I would love to do that. I really hate to miss that, but I'm here til may. I will be going through Dallas on my way back to KC, but that's only an hour layover.
I'm in a good mood, hattrick wise that is, I'm in a great mood otherwise, cause I just got back from Greece and it was awesome. Anyways, I had listed two players to transfer before I left, both starting at $12,000. Well I get back, and one sold for $33,000, the other sold for $51,000. I was so happy, cause it gave me quite a bit of cash, and got ride of two players who for my team right now are over the hill.

Mine too, only redeamable quality was his passable stamina.

My youth pull......was last seen drifting aimlessly among the practice fields of his former club. His days of glory are clearly over.
Seems a lot of my youth pulls can be found doing that, or flipping burgers.

Mine was popular and had high leadership. A clown :) which is appropriate since his actual skills are laughable. :D

My youth pull is currently on the transfer list. If only I was training defenders. :(
I have a slim chance of avoiding auto-regulation, but I have to win this week and next. I'll let you know how it goes later.

It was a good news, bad news day. I lost my match 3-2 but i dominated possession 53/66. I think my opponent may have PIC'd me, but I don't care. My new players really came on and their higher stamina insured I gave up no goals in the 2nd half. I'm sure my supporters will continue to desert me since I can't seem to buy a win in league. And next week promises to be even worse, playing against first place Anoka County United.

Won 3-2. Was down 2-nil and missed two chances before halftime. Got an ht-mail from a guy who is helping me out and the come to find out I was only down a goal. Get another ht-mail, check it, come back and I'm up 3-2. My two solid forwards baged one each and my excellent winger got one as well.
MOTSed and my TS is murderous, but if I MOTS my next game as well and win, I get to stay in V!
Also hoping one of my solid winger jumps to excellent soon. Want to see when my WB back will go from solid to excellent. He was a YP who was passable on the wing when he was pulled. Might send him into the U20 coach.
unbeaten 2 games in a row, thats almost a record for me this season! :D
My first Swedish winger who plays in friendlies went from passable to solid this week.

Somehow, I have a chance to finish 2nd in iii.14. This is despite the fact that I'm the 5th best team in the division. I'm sure we'll get 4 really good replacements next season though.

I PiC'ed against the top of the league away and lost 2-nil.
For some reason he hasn't played his best team the last couple of weeks.
I will finish third or fourth this season, we have a very tight battle in my series for relegation with 5th, 6th and 7th separated by one point.

I too will finish 3rd or 4th thanks to this weeks results. I won my league game 5-2, and the 3rd and 5th place teams tied each other, which pushed me 5 points clear of 5th, and tied with 3rd. This is the first season where I won't have to play a qualifier. :) And next week I got the 7th place team, though 3rd plays the 8th, but I can hope for some miracle from them after I beat them this week.

I'll finish no worse than 3rd after whipping the 4th place team 5-0 away. With my victory I denied 4th place any points and now the 5th place team has a chance to catch them in the final week.
And thankfully, this week, I come away from the game without any injuries of serious consequence.

A worthless youth pull for me this week.
Won 4-1 to move into 4th. Theoretically I could move into third as the #3 team has to play one of the two best teams in the league while I play #7. The league title is set to be decided on goal differential.
I was working on a spreadsheet to track my players (I suppose I could download one of the assistant manager programs, but then I'd have to engage in all sorts of business carting stuff around on a floppy and it's more fun to do it yourself anyway).
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what the approximate percentages of skills needed for each position are. Right now I just want to get estimates for a default set-up, ignoring any individual orders like a defensive IM or winger TM or tactics like pressing or counterattack.
From looking at hattrick's rules and doing some rough estimating, these are the numbers I came up with:
Centerbacks: defending
Wingbacks: 2/3 defending + 1/3 winger
Inner midfielders: 3/5 playmaking + 1/5 passing + 1/5 defending
Wingers: 1/2 winger + 1/4 playmaking + 1/8 passing + 1/8 defending
Forward: 2/3 scoring + 1/3 passing
Anybody have any ideas (whether their yours or they're taken off the web or an assistant manager program)? One thing I'd specifically like to learn about is IM's. How bad does an IM's passing have to be before it's a good idea to put in an IM with worse playmaking but better passing?

I think estimates also need to include stamina (particularly for IMs) and form, for everybody. From the rules:
"An "excellent" player in "wretched" form is usually worse off than a "passable" player in "solid" form. "
I'm not sure how much fomr or stamina should enter into your calcs, but they are important.

Yeah, stamina plays a BIG role. As a newbie, training stamina GREATLY improved my team's ability to control the midfield. It's a must. Ratio wise.... hmmm...
3/10ths Stamina
5/10ths PM
1/10th each Pass/Def
maybe?
Form, well, it seems that form changes of 2 levels will change a 1/2 star of performance. If my IM drops 2 levels in form, he loses a 1/2 star. Something like that.

It's hard to put a "one true value" on IMs and wingers because they contribute different skills to different ratings. For instance, that 40% that you allocated to passing and defense goes entirely to attack and defense ratings, with none of it going to midfield. You have to consider not only how Hattrick values individual skills in contribution to these ratings, but also the value of a contribution to a particular rating to your side in a particular game.
BBFC is locked into second place now, with at least four points separating our squad from the nearest team on either side. We'll still be MOTSing the last game to try to carry positive vibes for our supporters through the offseason. So far, our progression as been 4th, to 3rd, to 2nd -- we'll be dropping some major $$$ in the offseason (or early next season) to try to ensure that the natural progression continues.

I forgot to mention in my last post that......
I won a league game!!!!!
I beat the last place team 7-0 (although there were no hattricks...weird), and that puts me 1 point ahead of the 7th place team, going into the last game of the season. We both play top ranked teams that are one point apart in the battle for 2nd-4th, so if we both lose (which I expect), then I'll get a relegation playoof game, which I can hopefuly MOTS and win......
And all my supporters that left after the first two losses signed back up. Now, if I can get my training regimen up and running (after some off season stamina training) so I can start earning some money, I'll be in pretty good shape....

stamina is the most important stat for playmakers.
my experience says its better to use excellent stamina, inadequte (or even weak) pm then wreteched stamina, solid playmaker.
i'm quite sure it doesn't matter as much for defenders and goalkeepers. i cant say for sure how much it effects forwards and wingers.
