I'd be in for that. There are lots of places to catch a beer in the city. One I and other Wizard's fans have been frequenting lately is Charlie Hooper's in Brookside. PM me if you need or want directions.
Cool, I'd love to meet up with you guys if only to put a name to a face and shake the hands of a fellow HT addict. :) It's too early for a Wizards game, I've often attended games with my parents when my family visits, but our schedule this year dictates an earlier visit date. Email me directions - or PM me I guess, I rarely use that. We'll decide on a gathering place/time later. I'm sure Hooper's is adequate. I'm intrigued anyway.

Well, no one had bid on my youth pull. Then I logged on this morning. Several bids. I start with the oldest. The $100,000 minimum. I keep clicking and the bids had gone up to $108,000. Then I check the last bid. $200,000!!! And the bid is from a team in Sweden's top flight!
It sorta makes me sad, as I wonder how he'll turn out--and especially I'll wonder how he might have turned out playing for my team--but right now I'm looking forward to the stadium expansion I'll pay for.

Haven't been able to do much with my team recently (got married, getting deployed), and the results have shown! 7th place right now in V.114 and in debt because i haven't even had the time to schedule friendlies! Ah well. I'm not going to be able to get online for a couple of weeks while i'm getting trained up, but I"ll have internet access in my deployment site. Then I can start kicking ass again..

AA--my last post was a bit misleading. That wasn't the end of the bidding. I watched as a bidding war ensued between three teams. The price went from 200k up to 240 or so, then jumped to 300k and ended up at $340,000. I'm glad to see that my youth system (only rated passable) just paid for itself (I didn't even have it at 20k the whole year, it was 10k/week except for maybe the first two or three weeks of the season).

Kevin, did you wind up with an upper-division team getting your player? Hopefully, it's someone who will train him and sell him, rather than a daytrader (who will get you LCM right away but at the cost of the LCM you would have gotten after training) or a n00b with more money than brains who sits on the guy.
Edit: Division III in Schweiz, that should be pretty good as they don't get that high without knowing what they're doing. Of course, there's still chance that guy will train him and keep him, but you should at least have a chance at some nice MCM.

that's awesome, you got 340K for one pull out of a Passable youth squad. My youth squad is Solid and I have never come close...

Doesn't matter. You set a min of 100K. You had already doubled that by the time I posted. I've yet to sell anyone over 100k. Maybe even 50K. It's not like they'll take their bids away. That's money in the bank. Money I don't have yet.

I've got one scheduled this week, and for the rest of the season, as well as the off season, I'm going to try and follow some advice I saw on one of the conferences to try and schedule upper division teams with large stadia that draw big crowds (to hopefully make a little money off of a friendly).
So I'm off to thailand next week, where I will hopefully make more than $1500.
But next season, when I'm getting steady income from my league games, drop me a line, and we'll do a home-and home.
And speaking of next season, how about an (unofficial) Bigsoccer cup? I'll even volunteer to organize it. Drop me a PM, and when next season starts (and after we're all out of the cup) I'll create a seperate thread where we can posts schedules and results and talk smack.

I mean $6000, which is the cost of an international friendly, not $1500 which is the cost to fire a specialist, which I also did this week (damn spokesperson was gettin' on my nerves anyway).
Next week I'm going to try to scehdule an higher div. US team--I just wanted my players to enjoy a Thai vacation before their critical games (hopefully no one will get caught breaking drug laws)......

The Lone Star Cup VIII has reached the elimination stage, but none of the posters from BigSoccer made the cut this season. No USA clubs did either, which may be a first in LSC history. Here are the LSC Quarterfinal matchups:
http://www.geocities.com/gollum1197/LSC21Bracket.html
Rush FC (Canada) - Claygate A.F.C. (England)
Mustangs (Canada) - 1348 Rykkinn (Norway)
Softies (Belgium) - FC De Kulderzipkes (Belgium)
Mass Murderers (Belgium) - Sydney Swifts (Oceania)
Clubs that place 2nd in their group advance to the Texas Shootout, a single elimination tournament. BigSoccer posters are in bold. Here are the matchups:

Bradford PA (USA) - MECHANIC FC (USA)
The Spitfires (Canada) - Panther City FC (USA)
Bertem Shadownears (Belgium) - Middlesex Athletic (USA)
Nieuwmoer FC (Belgium) - districtFC (USA)
California Sea Lions and Dallas Red Knights both failed to advance out of the group stage.
Good luck to everyone!

Interesting, I'm in a fed with Anoka in your series.
Hirsch wouldn't be a bad player with a bit of stamina training.

I play Anoka this weekend. I expect a major drubbing.
And hirsch has been a serviceable player, but long term plans necessitate younger players for PM training.
