I was in 4th with a chance to move into third with a win, but I lost, putting me in fifth. Fortunately, my last two games are against teams with only 6 points on the season. I'm even on points with #4 and he has one game against a cellar-dweller and one against one of the two best teams. #3 plays the two top teams, but he's probably too far ahead on goal differential for me to catch him.
My youth pull from my passable youth squad:
Wilfred Quezeda
75 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and disastrous leadership abilities [Unpredictable]
Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: wretched
Winger: inadequate Defending: poor
Scoring: solid Set Pieces: poor
So I'm quite pleased at that turn of events. Any suggestions as to what I should do with him? Looks like selling him might not guarantee enough money to make it worth my while. If I knew I could get $100,000 for him I'd probably sell him, but I wouldn't want to have him leave for $20,000. Or I may just keep him and see how high I can train him up (although if I were to sell him later I'm almost certain I wouldn't get as much money for him as I'm a young team and I only have an inadequate coach and not that many assistant coaches).

I won 5-0 at home, in another downpour. Got 10k at my 20k stadium this time, compared to a sold out downpour against the #1 last week.
After checking the weather on HT-Sunday, on which it was raining, the forecast called for overcast on game day. I wisely started 2 of my Powerful players. I lost one of them for 4 weeks due to injury, yet another defender... So now, I'm down three starting defenders, a backup defender, and a very capable inner mid. I expect to get one of the starting defenders back very soon though.
The win, coupled with the #2 team losing to the #1, gives me control of second place. Time to finish the season strong...
Wish my youth pull was as good as yours. Well, I guess it was. I pulled a 170ish-K inadequate keeper that is young and trainable. He ought to sell and bring me some dough. If he doesn't, I'll make him my backup as he is better value wise. But my current backup has poor experience. Suggestions?

My advice is to sell him. There are enough forward trainers out there. If you want to guarantee $100,000, make that your minimum bid when you put him up for sale.
Although he will turn 18 in a few weeks you should be able to find a buyer. Pity his passing isn't better though.

Won my game 3-1 pulled 3 points ahead of 5th by three, with my last two against teams with a combined 11 points. I'm also only 2 points out of third right now, with him playing the number 5 and 2 teams. I should be able to pull off a third place finish then, which means more prize money for me.

I'm just worried I won't be able to get $100,000 for him. There are 17yo solid scorers on the market for less.
If he doesn't sell, I'm certainly not going to object to having him in my team, though.

My V.59 match ended up 3-3...I came back from 1-3 in a battle where I am guarding 4th and my opponent is in 5th...we were separated by 1 point. The 6th place team walloped a club fixing to go bot and be relegated so they're sitting 2 points shy of me. I play them next, and the 5th place club is going up against the #2 club.

It's all about promotion :)
Make sure you have an ad in the transfers list with a link to your player. And if you have supporter and belong to any federations with transfer listings then post him there too.

You could try starting this guy at 80 and then hope for some competition in the bidding.

Well, it looks like it's back to divIV for me. I can still get a qualifier, but it's probably out of the question. If anyone wants a world-class 22 year old defender capable of 7*s check Monkey of Doom sometime in the next week or so.

Well I'm happy, I just realized today that my solid striker bumped up to excellent in the last update. I'm so happy. Next season watch out, cause now I have an excellent, two solids, and a passable forward. It'll will hopefully be a good year next year at Rangers Park in Div V.251.

Well, my upcoming competition could be interesting. But I hope not.
First up, I play away at the #4 team's place. We tied in the 2nd week of the season when I played my PIC B team during my cup run. He plays a very defensive 4-4-2. CDs to wing, WBs to middle, FWDs defensive, his IMs defensive and his Wingers Offensive. He sports an average midfield, no thanks to his sub-par IM's, must be due to his very good wingers and defenshive forwards. I keep waiting for this owner to discover the AOW tactic, which seems to be what he's trying to accomplish with his favorite lineup settings. His good wingers and decent attack seem to give our series mates some difficulties during the season, as evidenced by his current standing.
Mathematically he's very likely to hold onto 4th place money but he may be aiming higher. To get 3rd (or my 2nd place?), he needs to win the next two games and get some outside help. He'll need it because the current #3 team plays the two newest teams in our series and is likely to win. I suspect he'll MOTS me. I think I'll MOTs him too. Next year, my B team, if it stays intact, should easily be able to handle him as I've seen very little improvement on his part.
The last game of the season is against one of the older teams in my series. He hasn't improved or changed much and it appears he is set for auto-relegation. He has a good defense, decent midfield and adequate attack via his 4-4-2. He's got an outside chance at a playoff match but I doubt it will happen. He'll need to beat me at my place to get there and since it is the last game of the season, MOTS it is. We also tied at the beginning of the season with my PIC B team.
In other news, I've moved up (or is it down?) in the Hatstats Div V Hospitalization ranks. Now listed at 33, with 3 players injured for a total of 10 weeks is my squad. Memo to self, "Hire ugly nurses next time."
I've been buying expereinced players on the cheap, trying them out for comparison against my younger non-trainee positions. Depending on how that goes, I may sell my younger players and keep the old farts. Especially if they have coaching potential. My current, future coach is a starting wing back with solid experience. He's only a weak defender, but his experience more than makes up for it in my team's defensive ratings. I hope to find another diamond in the rough.
Not to mention at this stage in the season I keep checking out the potential Div IV relegation table to see who may be the newest member in DIV V and if I can take him. Next year will be interesting as my series' #s 2-4 are only separated by 3 points right now.

I won my first game!
Ok, so it was a friendly (against a DV team from Israel), so it doesn't really count, but still....
I won my first game!!!!!!
(weird thing about the first half--I was playing counter atack to increase my exp. w/ that tactic, but I still had 59% possession in the first half, and 49% in the 2nd--he was pressing, so maybe he got tired, but 4 of my 7 goals were in the first half).
I also scored my first goals in league, and the #6 team tied with the #8 team, meaning he's only a point ahead of me with two games left. I play the #8 team at home (and the #3 team away), while he plays the #3 and the #5 teams (#2 and #5 are seperated by only 3 points), so maybe I'll catch him, draw a bot team in the relegation match, and stay up.
Then again, given how tough my series seems, maybe I should go down to VI, spend some time building my squad, and then go back up when I'm better.....

Congrats on the win. I still have yet to feel the pleasure. I am in the same boat as you in regards to series. I am #8 in v.231 and I am no danger to any team in my league. I will take my relegation and use it to build my team up. Look out Hattrick, Dynamo KC is down but never out.

I took the Boats over to Scotland to play hearts f.c. and came away with a 0-3 win. The crazy thing is that I expected to lose as I had my new set of defender trainees all in my midfield, on the wings, and one at forward, trying to bulk up their passing that I am trying to improve in them in anticipation of running a lot of CA next season. For the match I played press against hearts f.c.'s counter attack. Things were looking sort of drab until my defender trainee on the wing got injured (thank the HT Gods it was only bruised but training). Unfortunately for hearts f.c. I had one of my best wingers on the bench...and that changed everything...within a few minutes I was up 0-2 and was all over them. I like this playing overseas stuff...even though I lost money on the friendly. My two injuries in the match (BBT and BBP) should be healed up by training...not that it would have been a factor anyway.

Congrats indeed! Don't forget to plan your last couple of games out. If you know you are going to auto-relegate, no big deal, but if you got a chance at a playoff game, MOTS if you must to get there. And of course, MOTS in your playoff game.
Hang in there Helghallen. Be patient, it'll happen. Maybe you'll beat ur_land to the first league victory?

Also, even if you play counterattack, you'll only lose something like 5% of possession in most cases, so with 59 and 49% your midfield was too good to get any counterattacking opportunities.
Edit: The impression that I get from discussion to date is that CA is very difficult to use correctly. I certainly wouldn't generally recommend that a new player use it.
I don't know what your last two games look like, but if you aren't heading for a qualifier, make sure you MOTS the last game -- the TS hit won't count for anything because TS resets in the offseason, and the result of that game will carry through four supporter club updates so it makes a big difference in how many supporters you gain in the offseason.

I have no doubt I will win eventually. I have a good crop of youngsters I am going to train, I have friendlies lined up for the next month and I made 85K off of a player I had on the transfer list. I'm good to go.

I'd be in for that. There are lots of places to catch a beer in the city. One I and other Wizard's fans have been frequenting lately is Charlie Hooper's in Brookside. PM me if you need or want directions.
