I am encouraged by the "passable coach" and "solid leadership" should I be worried about his form, dishonesty, and weak experience?
Form doesn't affect him at all, dishonesty and experience shouldn't really affect you team as long as you have a strong leader... All in all, I'd say don't worry about anything...
Whats your team name Kopiteinkc?...

Any thoughts about the best size for a squad? I'm playing in the US 5th Division, League 79 and my squad ranges from 27 through 30 players (when I get to 30 I try to cut it down by sales or, if nobody buys, free transfers). My best players are "solid" in their core specialty, although I am still playing regularly with a number of "inadequates" and "passables". Should I just give up on players who are over 25 with "weak" or "inadequate" and free transfer them? Any thoughts would be welcome.

27-30 players sounds like too many. I used to bargain-shop for middling players but realised that if you're going to improve, you have to raise your expectations. After 3+ seasons in England, only 2 of my original starters are still in the first string, and by next season one of them will probably be on the bench. Depending on your formation and what you train in, keep only those players who can contribute in the first-string or as meaningful substitutes, and young players you're training up in a skill.
If you gave more details (about formation and training) other people here would probably have better advice to offer.

I usually stay around 22-24, that way I have a complete set of backups in case on injuries... You should probaby narrow down your lineup to at least 25, unless your extra players are trainees... Sell the rest...

Yeah but it looks like you gutted your team earlier this year? Did you run into a financial crisis ala Leeds? Or were your players just getting old? I think I have maybe 3 seasons left in my IM's, I need to either start training playmaking or invest again in some middleage IM's...

I had lots of older crappy players, now I have 3 or 4 17 year olds training hard! I also sell every other youth pull who doesn't match what I need.
Finances are ok, nice size stadium (26,500), just need these guys to move up a few skill levels quickly. Like I said in an earlier post my youth squad is at excellent now.
I now have a pretty solid back three/four and can switch to IM very soon.

Is anyone else getting a ton of injuries? I usually have a few, but now it's really a problem. It seems like it's been happening the last few weeks. I haven't changed anything, I was wondering if they had changed the settings on the game or something. 5 injured, 2 bruised. All of those players are at least occasional starters. I'm worried this might end up getting me demoted this season.

I had quite a problem with this, then as soon as I increased my number of doctors my injury problems lessened. I also decreased my training intensity from 100% to 95%. It hasn't reduced my players increasing their skill level all that much I don't think.
Somehow I managed to get my second win in a row today, this time away from home. Tiny ray of hope that I can stay up this season??

I have a dilemma, I just pulled a 17 yr old from my youth squad who is a passable winger.
Currently I am training inner mid and planned to stay that way for at least a whole season, probably more.
However, is this too good an opportunity to pass on and should I switch to training winger and get this kid ready for the national team? Case of sacrificing club for country, what do you think I should do?

Sell him. Either that or just plug him into your lineup and get him playing. I just pulled a 17 year old solid defender. Haven't bothered to switch training since I'm planning on training defence not next season, but the season after. He'll still be 19 and my other deenders will only be 24. He's young enough that he can get by as passable. My two wingers are that and can make the grade. Allthough I'm still waiting to pull up someone that can step right into the midfield for me. I have two wingers waiting who are I think 18 and 19 respectively. I'll train them when they turn 21.

Wingers need playmaking training too. If your ambition is to give this guy a chance at the national team, then sell him. But usually it's solid or excellent 17 year olds that end up making the national team. I think you'll do this fictitious bundle of 1's and 0's more for his career by giving him playing time and letting his PM skills improve.

It's train him in Playmaking as long as his PM wasn't to low, no lower then inadequate... If he's lower I'd sell him... But he might not be worth much, I've seen 17 Pass PM'ers going for around 80-120K, so I'd think winger might be around 40-70K...

Like others said, I'd sell him, unless he's also got decent playmaking, and then I'd perhaps train him a season or two in PM, then either move to winger (as good wingers can use both PM and winger), or possibly sell then (a 19 yr old passable winger/decent playmaker would sell for quite a bit).
The #1 thing, IMO, should always be YOUR team first. If you promote a 17 yr passable or better, and you won't train him, you should always sell (again, IMO).
BTW, Hattrick being down is kind of a bummer, so I stopped by bigsoccer just to catch up on this thread (been away from BS for a while). I wanted to gloat a bit about my win last night in my series' conference, but NO! Hopefully the server switch goes as planned.

No problems for me. They just changed their IP address so I would make sure you are entering www.hattrick.org instead of using a bookmark (which might point to the old IP)

I was finally able to log into the site around 1pm EST. Couldn't pull up match reports, but I saw on the conferences board that that was a problem all were experiencing. Will have to wait to see the specifics from this weekend's round.
