I would NOT recommend playing a symmetric four-midfielder formation. You're unlikely to have the players to pull it off, and midfield is still too important in this game to concede possession.
absolutely right but, not if he's a wing trainer. That wing slot is invaluable for training. But then he would definitely (well, most likely) conceed midfield to his opponent in a 3-4-3. Depends on whether or not he's attached to a formation and what training regimen he's pursuing....

Pulled out an away victory against the 'former' #2 team in the midseason turnaround match. I won 3-2 against his 3-5-2 with both his wingers toward the middle. I expected a close match and wondered what his wrinkle would be... alas, I survived with 50% and 59% (Ithink) possession. Now, I'm the sole #2 team. We'll both likely lose to the #1 again, so if I can just stay on track and run roughshod over everybody else, I've got things well in hand for the #2 spot.

I figure if you sold out against the #4 team, you are past due in considering your stadium upgrade. If you are selling out against #2, I'd seriously consider it. THat means that for at least two games this year you missed out on potential revenue due to lack of seats. You can pretty much guarantee the number of sellouts to increase the following year, assuming of course you continue to fare well and improve.

Again my oppostion was a no-show, didn't field 9 players. 5-0 away for me.
I got all my youngsters some training, so I can play starters in the div iv and v cup I am in on Wednesday.
I am itching to spend my million dollars in the bank, I am trying not to spend it until the close season.

Is there a Bigsoccer Federation?
There seem to be a lot of players on here.

Well another easy win, PIC this week against the team and still won 4-1, two goals from each of my forwards, two from the spot, and dominated possession. Next week I have the number 4 team who is only 1 point behind me, but the game is at home so hopefully I can come back and beat them again, may MOTS because the next week is at the number two team that spanked me at home earlier this year, so I could PIC that game.

(regarding my advice to play an assymetric formation if playing with four midfielders)

True... if training winger, I'd generally recommend either a symmetric 3-5-2 or a 4-5-1, unless you have the players to pull of a symmetric four-man midfield (which would probably require two wingers with good PM both played toward middle). Preferably 3-5-2 because everything I've seen and heard suggests that 4-5-1 doesn't produce enough offense.

And the benefit of creating a BS federation would be....?
So that we could communicate with each other? We do that already here. And some of us can't/won't access HT from work.

Exactly, what would be the point of a fed on hattrick for bigsoccer users, when we have that here with this thread and the transfer thread, I think we get most of our questions and ideas answered on here enough to help us out. I mean I've gotten quite a bit of advice from people on this page to help my team. I don't really see the need for it at the moment.
Then there is the point that a lot of the people on here don't have supporter (me included) which would take away from the conversation in the fed because not everyone on here would be there.

I scheduled a home friendly with a team that appears to be pretty darn good. What is the advantage of scheduling friendlys with teams better than mine?

You see how you fare and how far you have to go to equal better teams. But the really big thing is revenue. If they are a really good team, have been around for a while and have enough supporters, you get more ticket revenue from a friendly hosted by your opponent than if it was held in your newbie stadium with your 800 or so supporters.

It would look cool, but how about we just put links in our team pages, in our sigs in conferences, and such directing people to BigSoccer/games?
And we can have a cup on BigSoccer. We can organize and commuinicate it via a new thread here in the games forum, titled BS Invitational or something. We could even advertise it on the conferences. If I were you, I'd suggest setting this up for next season....

Exactly, we don't need a conference for a bigsoccer tournament, I mean like I said earlier in the thread about possibly making big soccer invitational, we could do the entire tournament on here, put the tournament games and scores up here and all that. The problem is though, when I put the idea up, I only got 2-3 replies on the topic so I don't know how everyone else on here feels about the idea.
I mean if we did the tournament, I know it could make some people feel inferior, but everyone could play the same number of games and rank the teams from the best team on big soccer to the not-best(LOL), that way there would be the same number of games for everyone.

Crowd revenue, generally -- you have nothing to lose by playing a better team since aside from injuries, crowd revenue, and the fact of playing, the friendly doesn't count.

I for one right now don't have the money to shell out to get supporter, so I can't join a fed. And the idea of putting this site in our sigs or as our home page is a good idea as well. I'd do the sigs, but with home pages, I started a tripod site for my team that I have put in that spot.

By the way if anyone wants to look at it and tell me what they think that'd be nice too. I'll be putting a logo on there when my friend who's making it is done with it.

I'm in dire need of a friendly as my cup competition has yet to accept my previously scheduled challenge. First come first serve. If you have yet to set one up, please give me a challenge. Must be domestic as it is already Tuesday here.
Later.
