Don't quote me, but if you're putting the max into youth development, I think you should be excellent in a season and a half. But that was so long ago, and I'm going senile.
I got the mandatory three points in comfortable fashion, but now I realise I must throw my cup match by PIC'ing, playing my second team forwards, and dropping out of the cup in the hopes of getting my first away win next week with a team spirit of Paradise on Earth. Things aren't nearly as bleak as they were last sunday. My forwards are getting on form finally. Got world class midfield for the first time ever. Its not much by division three standards, but hey, its a start.
If I can pull these nuts out of the fire and avoid relegation, I'll be a lock for my league's Manager of The Year.

I think that it usually takes almost a full season of $20,000 to go from passable to solid and then longer to go to excellent, and if you stop doing the most for one week, you will drop and it will agian take that long to go back up.
Pulled off the major upset in my league this week defeating the number 3 team at their place 1-0. I now move up and take over the number 3 spot in my league, with two striaght games against the 7th place team, which just got spanked by the 6th place team, so I can hopefully play normal one game and then pic depending on how I do so that I can MOTS one of my games agaisnt the other top three, hoping for an upset at home. I did lose my starting defender for 5 weeks though, which sucks majorly.

Lost 6-1 away playing all my starters and MOTS. Ouch!

Off to lick my wounds :(

Won 3-1 at home against crunchers. My series is way to tight at the moment. 5 points separate 1st through 8th place, and only 2 points separate 2nd through 8th place. I'm currently in 7th place.

against probably the worst team in my league.

Once I got my youth squad up to passable, I cut back from 20,000 to 10,000 a week, and it's maintaining a passable level. The best pull I've had is a passable IM. Keep in mind, its like the lottery. I hope that by bettering your youth squad, you get more tickets in the lottery.

Question:I PICd last week and my spirit went to delerious. But then Monday it quickly dropped back to content. I PIC'd again yesterday and it's back up to delerious. That was my first drop all season after a PIC. Is it due to my coach's lower leadership and the team spirit settling down as a consequence?

I just last week read something on another forum (Hottrick) that spurred me to finally change coaches. This guy said there was a big difference between passable and inadequate leadership as far as how quickly your spirit goes down after playing it cool. I can't remember the details unfortunately. My new coach is passable, and my ts stayed POE for tuesday's cup match after picking last sunday. It stayed delerious for yesterday's match, after I played it normal in the cup.
To make a long story short, I think if you don't have a coach with passable leadership, you're better off being very judicious with your MOTses and PICs. I've always thought the whole idea was overrated, and other than early round cup matches and walkovers, I've played 98% of my matches normal, I'd guess. But now I'm in a very tight relegation battle, and have a coach with passable leadership, I might have to change my mind. Superior team spirit is the only way I'm gonna pull this one out.

Pardon my insolence, but what are PICs and MOTSs

Play it cool, meaning that your team will play worse, but the team spirit will go up.
MOTS is match of the season and it means exactly what it sounds like, your team will try to play their best game of the season.

It's now at satisfied...... I'm not. I was hoping it would stay up. Oh well, that's why I'm trying to slowly get outta debt so that I can upgrade coaches and acquire a nice long term keeper.

Got a coaching prospect on my tema now. Still got to get him throught the wait process and hoping he'll pop to passable exp.

I'm still studying his in game performace, but I think when I put him in, my defense goes to solid and he's only an inadequate defender. I was only using him as a backup but had to play him due to half of my defense being carded or injured. But his high experience may be the reason for the improved play of my defense. He only garners 1.5 stars, but my defense ratings (for his position) take a nice jump when he's in the game.

Anyone interested in the becoming my hattrick big brother? I have been in hattrick for a little over two seasons now. I have bough a few players, but for the most part I am still languishing around 4th or 5th in the league. I have not invested in my grounds or in hiring a new coach.

Country: USA
Region: New York City
Arena: Paradise Square
Language: English
Series: # 5 in V.192

50 years, wretched form, healthy
A passable coach who is defensive minded
A pleasant guy who is temperamental and honest.
Has solid experience and weak leadership abilities.

Stamina: wretched Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous
Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous
Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: poor

My economy is as follows:

Cash funds: 400 110 US$ (379 172) US$
Sponsors: satisfied
Supporter Club: 1064 members
Supporters: satisfied

Total capacity: 7000
Terraces: 5000
Basic seating: 2000
Seats under roof: 0
Seats in VIP boxes: 0

What is my first plan for action? Should I invest in new players? Should I hire a new coach? Should I start pumping my funds into the stadium to increase income? My youth set-up is excellent.
I have also been planning on selling my 20 year old outstanding gk. If I do, what skill range for a 17 year old is usually a sound investment? I am training gk’s right now, but really don’t know much about training either…

Any help would be great.

Sorry about the confusing nature of this post.

The first thing you need to do is set up friendlies, now that you're out of the cup. That way you can play two keepers a week, and train both of them.

Anyone understand how promoting players to coach works? I have a player now who I'd like to promote, but he won't go any higher than a passable trainer. If I keep him around longer, will he get to Solid?

To turn a player into a solid coach, he must have at least solid experience.
A coach with better than solid experience won't make a better coach, but it'll make him cheaper to turn into a coach.
If the guy is a good player and has good leadership (passable or better) you could have him play every game, and maybe set up international friendlies, to get him to gain experience quicker.

Also, said player needs to be with your team at least one season before he can become coach.

I have looked at it once. You click on the same link as you would to buy a brand new coach. But once in the coaching screen you have a choice of promoting a player or hiring one sight unseen. If you chose to promote a current player, you are then presented with a list of your players to choose from. Beyond that, I can't tell you much as I have yet to go through that process yet.

And, you can only get as good a coach out of promoting a player, as his experience. A passable experience player can be made into a passable or worse coach. You'd need a solid exp player to convert him to a solid.

I'm hoping my inadequate will bump to passable this season, and I may play him in every game possible until he does.

Good to hear from you. Wish I had 400k in the bank and a passable coach. Stick with the coach for the moment. First, you've been in this thing longer than I have and have more supporters to show for it. You must be selling out that piddly 7k stadium. Upgrade it now. At least upgrade it to 14K. You'll immediately reap more revenue as a result. I'm consistently getting 10K fans with 800 supporters. I figure you'd be getting at least 12K regularly. THat's 4000 tickets your not getting revenue from.

Have you checked out USA.Hatstats.info? Type in your series V.192 in the box and press enter. You can compare the defensive, mid, attack ratings of the teams in your series. If you're sorely deficient in any category, upgrade. In my series, I'm getting away with passables in every position and will likely finish the season 2nd or third. Your series could be very different. Don't know.

But if you are training keepers, I got to figure your defensive ratings are okay as a result. Go for some middies and forwards I guess. You want enough midfield power to compete, and a decent set of forwards to capitalize on the chances you do get.

And by all means research this whole thread. It's helped me a lot and the people here are more than willing to help answer your questions. I can attest to that.
