i played a friendly in italy... lost 2-1 but that is besides the point... i lost my 17 yo solid venezuealan pm i just bought for 150k for 2 weeks... damn italians! :)
for the cup if your at least in Div V you'll play the first round against a bot team... 2nd round most likely too. by the 3rd round is when the competition gets rough. hopefully i wont have bad form or something and make it to the 4th round and get a home cup game. 2 seasons ago i made it to round 4... this past season met anothe really tough V team and got knocked out round 3 without a home cup game. realistically im going for at least 2 home cup games which would mean making to round 5... after that, i doubt i have a chance to advance much further, so i'll go back to mainly focusing on the league as i'll be promoting to IV next season after a fairly easy qual game from the looks. we'll see.

Woohoo! I got my first Solid PM today. Also had an IM/W go to passable that I wasn't expecting. Nice to slowly be leaving my days of inadequate middies behind.
I do not have supporter. Not yet anyway. Clarify for me please the big benefit of it. Isn't it the ability to bookmark players in the market? I know little about the federations, so I really don't know what I'm missing there. But I do see an advantage to being able to bookmark a certain player for bidding.

How much is it and what are the best features?

I now have two formidable inner mids and two excellents. Both of my passable wingers are now solid PMs.
Question on the new tactics. There has been some discussion about "all rounder" type players attracting more money on the transfer market.
What all rounders do you see being the most sought after? In other words, what two or three skills do you see as being the most important in combination?

For counterattacking you need defenders with passing, and thats almost impossible to train. Someone will try it, I'm sure, but its not very practical. I think for people who train defense, 17 year olds with at least passable defense and passing will cost a good bit (BTW, what goes into an offensive defender? I've noticed more people trying that lately)
For pressing, anyone with good defense and stamina. The consensus used to be that stamina wasn't important for anyone except midfielders. I'm not sure I ever believed that, but if you're training midfield and can get your whole squad up to excellent stamina (many teams have, I'm sure), you should be able to press. Since they announced the new rules I've bought two 17 year old strikers with passable defense. I also bought a formidable midfielder with passable defense who's powerful (powerful doubles his defense in regards to pressing).
But I think we can assume the designers will continue adding new features which make the game more realistic and benefit all-rounders -- eg people say the scoring skill of midfielders and defenders is absolutely meaningless. Not hard to see that changing sometime in the near future.

Well it's tough for me to say since I don't know exactly how the system would work. I guess I'd theorize that a forward with good playmaking ability and good passing might be valuable for his ability to see plays before they happen, stuff like that, you know. Or I may be talking nonsense.
Logically some of the attributes aren't going to matter for certain positions. I don't think a defender's scoring ability or a forward's defensive ability matters that that much in the game. Maybe it will change. I don't know, I generally have no clue what I'm doing in Hattrick.

I think defense is the obvious secondary that will be in most demand. Reasons... Defense necessary for all players for a good pressing tactic, defense necessary to make up for defensive defeciencies inherent in using AttackWing, AttackMiddle. Namely wingers with defensive skill when playing Attack Middle and middies with defensive skill when playing AttackWing.
That to me seems obvious. Less obvious, Defenders with high passing skill for CounterAttacking teams.
Everyone already highly values passing in a middie and wingers for use in an offensive deployment.
So I think people will be looking for defenders with passing skills, but many more looking for defensive skilled players. The increased importance of defense will mean more demand for young defenders with good defensive skills, and trainable other skills. For instance, I buy a 17yo pass defender with inad PM so that I can train a middie with some defensive power. I think there will be a big push for defensive players in the market.
That's my $.02

Anybody who wants to press is looking for forwards with good stamina and defending skills -- I've lucked into a couple of those as part of my initial complement of players.
CM - offensive CDs turn into part midfielder, so they want PM and stamina. Offensive wingbacks want winger, I don't recall offhand if they use anything else.
Kevin - Read the rules, section 14, The Player, for a complete rundown of a) what goes into each zonal rating on a qualitative basis, and b) what skills are utilized by the different individual orders.
(To address your specific items, defenders don't use scoring at all and forwards only use defending if you press. Forwards only use PM if played defensively [which generally isn't done], but passing is a very important secondary skill for them.)
On supporter -- Feds are cool in that it gives you a dedicated conference, but beyond that I don't find I use them all that much (aside from generating rankings, but that's not generally useful). Bookmarking players is truly useful, as it allows you to keep an eye on a player without actually throwing in an early bid. The supporter stats that they added on transfer-listed players are a major plus, as it saves you scanning their team's matches played list to try to get a history on the guy (in most cases). Beyond that, it just gives you greater immersion: Different kits, team logo, press releases, player notes are all fun things to get you more into the game. The other supporter stats are cool but none of them offer much of an advantage.

It costs about $22 and its not a bad deal. Feds are great because some do their own Cups and it is easier to get a friendly that way too. Plus tips ares shared. Get a guestbook, can change the kits, and you get a message saying if you have a new mail, a press anouncement, and alerts you if someone has just bid higher than you, etc...

I know that this is the case currently, but will this change at all? Willthe only new things that become importance be passing for defenders (with counterattack), defense for everyone (with pressing), and stamina for everyone (with pressing)?

I use it. It is quite useful
My main thing is to track training increases. But there are plenty of other features that are useful.
My play-off match I am leading 2-1 at half time. Have 60% of possession but missed a penalty :(
Hoping my 2 or 3 excellent stamina players see some benefit in the second half.
Hanging onto div iv by a thread, it should not be this close. I am nervous!!

Won my qualifier against a bot team 5-1, with my brand new transfer trainee for next season getting his first three goals ever. Next season should go well for me staying up in D.V. The winner of the division autopromoted and the team that came down is a bot as far as I can tell because there is no owner listed. There is also another bot that autopromoted. The other team that autopromoted might be a challenge. Then two of the other teams that moved up haven't loged in since they recieved their team. There is a good chance of me finishing top 3 this next season. It will really be a good season for me hopefully, my defenders are doing well, and I am training scoring to get my players better on that end this next season so I can play better and finish without a qualifier next season.
