I've recently begun keeping track of all the goings on in my 'division'. I should finally win my first game this weekend... if my form stays about the same or improves, if my opponent continues to steadfastly employ his existing strategy, continues to make minimal lineup adjustments, if my opponent's form stays about the same or worse, etc...
He checks in weekly but does very little. Would be nice if he maintains his current habits while I have him scheduled for the next two weeks. He's got a CD out due to suspension and has not traditionally named any substitutes. And I'm not real impressed with who he's playing and their form. He's got 2 real good (in my division now, not yours) wingers but that's about it.
Not to mention he likes a bizarre 442 formation tweak.
Both wingbacks are towards the middle.
Both CDs are towards the wing.
Both Wingers are offensive.
IMs and Fwds are both defensive.
I figure with an all out attack by my front 6 or 7 (especially if he plays without replacing his suspended CD) I can exploit those gaps. Just got to watch out for those counterattacking wingers he's got. I'm in his house this week but I'm hesitant to MOTS him, hoping he plays with 10.
Then I have him back in my abode for what I hope to be a back2back win on my part.
Any words of advice on his formation usage?

Strange formation... can't figure why he'd play the wingbacks and CDs like that, seems like it'd wind up being a wash. I'd expect that, in general, he'd put up good defense ratings across the board, without great attack ratings. And with better wing attack than central attack -- you may want to consider shading your defense to wing defense.
Hmm, just looked up the ratings from his last game. Atrocious across the board... can't see beating much of anyone with poor midfield and defense, inadequate wing attacks, and wretched central attack. Play for midfield and wing defense, I'd think... attack whereever you feel most comfortable.
Do you have any better IMs? Right now, you're getting 1.5, 1.5, and 1* from arguably the most important position on the field. Look for players with stamina and playmaking first, and break ties with defense and passing. If you can get even level with this guy on possession, you should get a blowout because your attack vs. his defense is a lot better than his attack vs. your defense.

Yeah, I've already set up my formation (352 training PM) with the wingbacks playing defensively. I hope to attack on his defensive side where he's missing his suspended player (or at least has a scrub in for him).
And as far as my IMs... my best are 3 passables in various degrees of form, all with horrible experience. I hope to get where I can use them all at once, or get a few more of my trainees up to passable.
This will be my fourth league game.

Just an FYI, experience isn't as important as stamina for midfielders.

If the stamina's bad, it might be worth a week of stamina training to raise it.

I've got a number of Inad PMs and a couple of Passables.
But form is pretty shot and their stamina is the same pitifull level when I got these players. Debated training stamina when I got my team at week 3 of the season but decided against it since my form was pretty bad to begin with.
Form has a bigger impact on game time performance than stamina I thought.
Is it worth it for me to train stamina now? Does stamina training provide an immediate boost to player's stamina or is it more like training PM where it takes a while to show? Also, I don't know if I can afford the form hit.
But, my next 2 games are against what is maybe one of my 2 weakest opponents this season. I might be able to swing a week or two of stamina training right here at this point in time.

In my experience, 1 week of stamina should do it. You are new to this game, but when established "most" players tend to do this in the offseason.
I have found training two weeks of stamina affects form badly a lot more. I would stick to one week. It is more beneficial than form IMO.

Thanks. That's just it. I read that most owners do it in the offseason. I figured rather than start my club in mid-season and immediately trash my already poor form, I'd see if I could forgo the stamina training until an opportune time arose to train. I believe that time may be now.
I've altered my training to do stamina. Does it typically increase everyone's stamina by a level across the board and decrease everyone's form too?
Or will some see a stamina increase and some a form decrease?
I guess it really doesn't matter. I'll know this Friday. :)

Most of your squad will see a stamina increase. As for form... I suspect (though I don't know) that training stamina will affect the target form for the 1/3 of your squad that gets selected for a change in form curve. If so, at most 1/3 of your squad will be adversely affected by one week of stamina training.

What day of the week did you do this? I think that makes a difference.

I don't think that's right. But to answere your question, I did it right after my post.
I think, from a programming point of view, that it's much easier at the time training updates occur, take the type of training used by the owner/manager and apply that to the players as applicable. Much less rigamarole involved than keeping track of all the various changes in training made by each and every user over the course of a week.

Hmmm. You could be right. I assumed it had something to do with when you you did it in comparison to game times.

No, I'm pretty sure it just depends on yur training type at the time training starts.

On the training update I just got my first formidable IM ever, I am so excited. :D

What would be your strategy on this player. Keep him for a long time and build your team around him, or sell him?
If you sell him, what age and level do you aim for to get the most out of your sale?
I am tempted to keep him for now as he is crucial to my team's survival and hopefully promotion push next season. But at what point do I need to look to make money off him?

He's only 19, I'd keep him for another season at least, or keep him outright... This time next season he'll be at least brilliant, probably magnificent.... He's still worth training till around 21 before it starts taking to long... Once you reach Formidable each level after that means you can usually sell for 500K to 1Million more....

I think about 16 of 24 guys increased a level of stamina. Also Form was about even, maybe even came out ahead in the form department.

Got a decent youth pull this week.
Lloyd Matlock (16153075)
17 years, passable form, healthy
A controversial person who is tranquil and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities.
Nationality: USA
Assessed value: 33 000 US$
Wage: 660 US$/week
Owner: Dallas Red Knights
Warnings: 0
Stamina: passable Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: wretched
I think I can get him passable to solid in both scoring and defending since he is only 17. One of my better pulls recently.

I'm not going to pull any youth for a while. Gonna try and maximize my cash flow for a while. Don't want the added cost of a youth pull that probably wont sell in the market nor his meager salary added on top of my normal expenses.
My YouthSquad recently went to weak so I intend to hold off on youth pulls at least until I reach passable, or have one of my two keepers injured for a stretch.
I might even cut/sell a few more players once I get settled in my regimen.

Lost a close one in my opponent's house. 2-1 Match ID 8339933. Any positive criticism?
I did notice that my team has disastrous overall experience compared to his weak/poor. That and his home field advantage may explain some of my bad fortune.
