Lost 2-0, but considering the following being the rating of the other team:

Midfield: wretched
Right Side Defence: formidable
Central Defence: outstanding
Left Side Defence: excellent
Right Side Attack: solid
Central Attack: inadequate
Left Side Attack: passable

Midfield is still my worst area, but next season it is going to be playmaking as the thing to work on. I'll finish training in scoring this season. No where to go, but up.

I won today, and went back top of IV.39... Real competitive series... 3 teams are tied for second, one point behind me... If I lose, I could suddenly be in 4th place... :(

The best team in the league managed to only field nine men.

I was PICing on the road, expecting a loss, and basically got a freebie dumped in my lap. Only won 2 - 1, it was a little tense late (I'd be kicking myself if I'd missed out on the opportunity).

I've got to assume this was a major-league fsck-up by the opposing manager... he was online during the game, so he's not inactive, he won the league last season, so he's not incompetent, and I can't think of any reason he'd want to throw the game.

Got another PIC coming up next week, that one at home. With the way results have fallen for me so far this season, I'm starting to think I might have an outside chance at winning the league (and then losing the qually so I don't get outclassed in IV).

2-0 win. My division is really difficult though. Not going to be a fun season.

In a matchup of what I guess are the top 2 BigSoccer clubs in Hattrick, Panther City FC (me) and Indy Racing Athletic (Elwood) drew 1-1. Seeing as how I MOTS'd the game, I was unlucky not to win (I missed 3 scoring chances). Seeing as how I'm horribly overmatched in the Major League, I was damn lucky to escape with a draw.

Trivia time!!!
The Supporter stats for the Major League tell me that 21 active teams have competed in the league at one time or another. I look to finish the season in 21st place. Call me the best loser, I guess.

How long does it usually take to get a "passable" or "solid" youth squad if you're investing $20k per week? Right now, I'm putting in $10k when I have away matches and $20k when I have home matches. I'm hoping my investment pays off next season when I'm promoted back into non-bot leagues.

You just need to teach that Josefsson how to kick a ball straight!

But I'd say our game was one where my good defense ratings actually worked. You had possession, and 4 (?) shown chances, but only got 1 in. I had 1 shown chance, and put it away. I'd like to figure it was my D that stopped 3 of your shots (by hurrying the shooter), but realize that's not always the case (defense seeming to actually DO something).

An expected loss for me, 4-nil at home this time.

I am in 6th after my earlier win against our bottom team who will lose all of their matches.

The 7th place team gots his first 3 points (against the 8th place team) so I am saving my MOTs for that match.

Try not to get thrashed by all the other teams and hopefully avoid relegation otherwise I might be coined a "yo yo team"

Lost 3-2 away against the first-place team. Puts me in 4th. I look to have one of the most competitive leagues in IV again. Hatstats has us in the top 5 most weeks. Finished 6th last year, just hoping I don't do any worse this season.

Incidentally, got knocked out of the cup last week by the same score. Played my scrubs and almost pulled it out, unfortunately my 4th-choice forward missed three chances. So I miss out on a home cup game. Again.

I won again, but for the first time through 4 league and 4 cup matches, I conceded a goal -- two in fact -- and got two central midfielders injured.
I've gotta play another 4th division team in the cup tomorrow, away, and have a tough league match away on Sunday. I was hoping to cruise through the early part of the league schedule in so convincing a fashion that teams forgot about trying to MOTs against me and worried about grabbing a top-four spot. I have a feeling I'm going to lose next week and that its all going to be up for grabs again.

How can you tell if your opponent MOTs'd you? In the game transcript I guess. Does it say anything in particular?

It won't say in the game transcript, however, if you go to http://usa.hatstats.info and their rating is much higher than it should be, then they probably MOTSed.

Actually, I didn't mean to say he MOTsed against me...he may have, but I doubt it.
WHat I meant is, I was hoping by taking an insurmountable lead in the league, no one would risk MOTsing against me in the future, since it likely would mean poor results against the other teams in the league, the ones they need to worry about, since there's going to be some hard battling for the 2nd through fourth spots.
But like I said, that strategy's more or less out the window now. I'm in a for a dogfight.

If I get really lucky, I can sell some youth players, too, and make a little bit of coin from doing so.

Just remember that when your Youth Squad does get better there is no guarantee you will pull better players.

I have had an "excellent" youth squad for more than a season now and I continue to invest the max. each week and I have only had two decent pulls in that time.

One I kept as it was a position I was sorely deficient in. The other I sold for more than I expected, approx. $250,000 IIRC.

I have never drafted a superstar million $$ guy and my continual $20K investment leaves me hovering on a zero bank balance each week.

I am more than pissed about this and ready to dump my existing strategy but I'll wait till next season to see whether I get relegated again or hang on in div iv before deciding.

Sounds like you're losing money somewhere. Have you tried raising the prices on your pints of beer? Have you tried the stadium upgrade, "Escorts for your club supporters"? Can't we charge our fans for parking? You could stop handing out Cuban cigars after every win. Try cutting the support staff and demand that your players play through the pain.

Good stuff. LOL.

Cuban cigars would be good, if only I could win a game!

I am ready to sell one of my midfield trainees soon which will put me in the black for a while. No more 19 year old inadequates please.

I am just waiting for him to jump a level, I thought it would be this week, but it didn't happen. :(

Won my league match 4-2 which has put me into 4th place. Not bad considering I was dead last at one point.

Training update: Training in one area for several weeks has paid off! My star 24 yr old Swede has gone from passable to solid in scoring! He is the only change that I have noticed so far, but still, it is a change. Now if I can get the 19 and 20 yr olds to improve to passable soon, I'll be in great shape.

What also helps if I'm solid in 3-4-3 and excellent in 3-5-2 so I'm getting close to the max trained.
