I would, but I have -240,000. Plus this is a Cup game that some made for those knocked out of the regular cup. I have started trying to sell players, cutting back on funding for my youth squad. Part of my problem was I listened to some bad advice. :(
I'm forcing myself to part with several players who will help me win, but getting out of debt is #1 prioty. How much in debt would I have to be in order to be taken away?

There are a couple of things that you can do...
First off is put an ad out. On the left-side menu bar, under Conferences, is a link for Ads. You can take out an ad for a friendly, and you should get a number of challenges from that.
Secondly, challenge the people in your series if they're out of the cup. They'll need friendlies too, and it's a quick way to get a friendly.
Another thing you can do is ask here. ArsenalTexan3 (I believe) and kopiteinkc are out of the cup, and I probably will be too after this Wednesday.
Or, you can do what I do, and just type in random series numbers and challenge random people.
Good luck - if you have any questions, definitely ask here or on the conference.

I had already challenged everyone in my group so that makes me feel good. Hadn't considered the 'ad' though. Thanks a bunch.

AAGunner3, as a new club, you should probably do your friendlies away. Income is split 50/50, and the gate depends heavily on the home club's number of supporters. Established clubs will have more supporters than you, for the most part (and this will continue to be the case for at least half the season).

What's the best way to find friendly candidates? Obviously the 'league' schedules your regular season games. But I know noone other than the members of my league. Is there an easy way to search/find clubs in need of a friendly?
Back to the wealth of documentation. Actually, past time to hit the sack. One last search...
Another very good way to get a friendly is to go to any nation (preferably a large one, like Sweden, Netherlands, etc), and then go to regions. From there, I think, you get an "online users" link, from that region. Just cycle through users that happen to be online, and don't have a friendly, and challenge them. If they also have supporter, their info bar will pop a message up to them telling them they were challenged.
It was the best way for me to get friendlies, at least til I hit ML. Now I just wake up to like 50 challenges every Thursday morning (once I'm out of the Cup).

But as a new club, you may need to be careful about international friendlies. I'm not sure how much of a crowd you need to draw to make up the travel cost, nor what situation you need your opponent to be in to expect that kind of crowd.
For my part, I play amongst a pool of people on another forum (actually, I'm now on two other fora). I've booked all my friendlies from the first, and I'll have a number lined up via a private cup once I get knocked out of the U.S. Open Cup this week (PICing against a much better III squad).

Thanks a bunch for the suggestions guys.
Also, can you schedule/line up your friendlies weeks in advance?

At least, you can't do it within Hattrick -- I'll have some friendlies lined up weeks in advance outside of Hattrick for a private cup, but they won't actually get scheduled in Hattrick until under a week before the game.

One of the first things I did with my new franchise was to upgrade my beloved stadium from 7K to 14K. How long did this last all of you before you felt you needed to upgrade further?
Granted, I know things such as winning increasing your supporter size affects how big a crowd you draw. I was just curious how long your first expansion lasted before requiring another renovation.

Okay, I'm missing something here. Who is better to put in the CD spot moved forward as third Inner Mid?
All things being equal, a Central Defender or InnerMid? Or does it depend solely on their ratings?

An extra IM should be a neutral IM-type player -- strong stamina and playmaking, with passing and defending as good as you can get. You can't specialize this player, so you'd prefer him to be neutral. With your other two IMs, if one has good passing and the other has good defending, you can play them offensive and defensive and get better results than playing both normal.
e.g. my regular midfielders have:
Extra-IM: excellent stamina, passable PM, wretched passing, weak defending (could be a defensive oriented IM too)
IM/defensive: excellent stamina, solid PM, wretched passing, inadequate defending
IM/offensive: solid stamina, inadequate PM, passable passing, inadequate defending (wouldn't be a bad normal IM either)

Hmmm, I got two players badly injured in the last two matches. One for 4 weeks and one for 5.
Two of my best players too. I already have 10 doctors and 3 physios, is there any way I can get these "sentences" reduced??
I even made the hatstats top 6 for injuries as I already had one player out for another week.
In my league match I gave the top of the league a run for his money, losing 4-2 at home and got my highest rating ever, 64 IIRC. His was 87 so I did well to stay within two goals. Disappointing crowd of 13,000 when I have a capacity of 36,000, bad weather kept people away.

How many bookings does a player 'need' to accumulate before receiving a suspension and for how long does the suspension last?

Accumulation of three yellow cards will equal a red, but if the player gets ejected before then it will wipe the slate clean.

I won my friendly match 6-3 even with a player playing out of position. My youngsters came through and my English player got 2 goals before having to leave due to injury, but it is only a week so not too bad. Most of my injuried players should be back next week, but I think I'll still call up a goal keeper for emergency.

I was going to play my first match against the leader of my league v188. I figured it was sure to be a loss. Had some decent players too from what I could tell.
Turns out the team just changed ownership. I might actually win my first league game with this sudden leveling of the playing field. Newbie vs Newbie. Also means that my lineup will be a litte more vanilla than what I was doing to counter the league leader's attacking 3-4-3...

How do I tell what week in the 'season schedule' we are in? It will help determine what strategy I will use for the rest of the season.
I see in the Matches page, it lists 4 weeks past and ahead. But how many are left before the end of the season and (de)promotion gets decided?

Look on your league page, and it will have a fixture page... Week 1 to the end of the season...

The matches tomorrow will be the 4th week of league matches (out of 14). The season lasts 16 weeks in all, with the 15th having qualifiers and the 16th being off on the league day (but having the first round of the cup midweek).

Well my first league game ended in a tie. Not so bad if I do say so myself. Lucky really. Went up 1-0 early and immediately thereafter, one of my InnerMids decides to get ejected. Lost the midfield battle big time after that. Was down 2-1 when best forward equalized in the 86th minute to salvage a tie at home.
Nice to get the first game and first points under my belt.
Hope y'all did better than I.
