I am in a very weak division (v.57) so i do anticipate a tough time in iv division if i do promote. I would like to thank everyone for their comments and advise especially Elwood(great advise), I have been training scoring this season. I read every post from page 1 to the post above. Great stuff.

Yeah, welcome to both Hattrick and BigSoccer.

Glad I could help, and good luck with promotion this season!

Just bought a player and got this note in my club section:

"A newly bought player got a really bad start when he arrived in the club. The team spirit fell when he initially turned out not to get along very well with the other ones."

Serves me right for buying a "nasty fellow" :)

Could someone please post a link for Hattrick?

I tried playing ManagerZone and found it awfully user-unfriendly....

Well I'm back in first! 63/64 on the auto promote list though.

no chance for me to promote, but I have a fairly easy game next week (he has great offense and defense, but a horrible midfield) and play against the other team battling for 2nd. If he wins or ties, he takes 2nd, if I win, I take 2nd... and I need the bonus money.

I should win my last couple of matches and get promoted and win every match this season.

However, I do have to play the second place team this weekend and they have only lost once (to me). So it won't be easy, but I am at home.

Next season is going to be a real struggle in div iv. Some off season strengthening may be in order, but I am not sure my finances can handle it.

Right now I'm sitting pretty on auto-promotion to div IV...

On a side note, I met GM-George of Cyclones, and his brother Slashers in ML this past weekend at the Cardinals game at Busch in St.Louis... They drove down from KC... Had a couple of beers with them, there both pretty cool guys...

With next weekend's walkover, I'll clinch 2nd in my league, with almost no chance of taking first.
Worse, I have an outstanding striker and a soon-to-be brilliant striker I want to sell sometime before the start of next season, and looking at the english transfer list the last couple of weeks, it does not look like anyone's bidding on forwards of that caliber -- at any price. I was counting on getting 3-4 million pounds for those two, and building up a firstrate midfield.

I have finally won a game again after starting off good, I went on a bad run and ended up getting rid of a few head coaches. Getting close to being pout of debt, but luckly I'm not Leeds United and under over 70+ million in debt. :) I'll be in the same league, but hopefully I can get a few friendlies to pass time and improve my GK,D, and MF.

Oh and champmanager, I will bid about 10, 000 for one of those strikers.

I am sitting sixth and while I won't finish any lower than that, I have only an outside shot at moving up to 5th. But I will probably be alright in my quali (knock on wood).

Just made an investment to strengthen my MF.

Like Indy, I'm now training forwards. I pulled 3 17-year-old strikers this year, two of them solid, one passable.

Unfortunately, I think I will have more of the same next season - I'll be fighting to remain in the middle of the pack.

Good luck to everyone.

Interesting, a guy on another board I frequent bought a player from mundial.

Anyway, the point of my posting was to ask about an unbalanced 3-5-2. If I'm vacating a wingback position, should I slide one (or more) players over in the defense, or just modify the winger (and possibly inner midfielder) on that side to defensive? If my best players are on defense (two solid central defenders vs. only one solid playmaker), do I sacrifice too much defense by switching to 3-5-2?

Brays Bayou FC, 4th in V.84, 2nd week playing (and I found out about this on the other board I frequent, not BigSoccer, interestingly enough).

I am excited about breaking into the hatstats top 100 teams in div v. Made it to a rating of 60 (28 stars) and tied for 61st in div v.

Maybe there is hope for next season. :)

Isn't there anyone out there who's willing to impart tactical know-how (re my question above)?

(Observation -- it's funny in a pathetic sort of way that a roughly two-week-old thread on Hattrick on a college hockey message board has twice as many posts as this thread.)

I don't play 3-5-2, so I can't give you specifics, but try here: http://hem.passagen.se/hammervald/abc_of_tactics/abc_of_tactics_index.htm
