I'm up for the BS Cup - my scrubs got us knocked out of the US Open Cup tonight, 3-2. And after getting one forward injured on Sunday, the guy who was likely to take his place got sent off. So I'm going to have a very weak attack for my showdown with the 1st place team and defending division champs.
But I'm looking to play in the BS Cup, or for a friendly if it doesn't start next week. Who's organizing this thing?
Thanks,
Nick

ArsenalTexan suggested it. And I have already indicated my interest, as have others.
ArsenalTexan you wanna run this thing?

Ok about this BS Cup thing. Here is what I can do and suggest.
We can get all the teams who have indicated interest. I'll gather the teams and put there names in a hat. Do a draw that way. First team out of the hat is the home team and it is up to that team to make the challenge.
We all play the same week so we can get this thing going at a good pace.
However here is the problem. I am leaving for Finland and Sweden May 10th until June 5th. So we can do several things.
1. Start now and then take a break for a month.
2. Start now and then someone take over when I am gone.
3. Start it in June.
Voting starts now and ends Sunday at midnight central time. Sound fair?
8-0...ouch. Should rebound at the next game. Played my scrubs too so it is a learning game for them.

If you could, respond and leave your id # and your team name for those who only have their bigsoccer names here. Right now there are roughly 10 people. A Cup with 10 teams could be done, but with 12 it will be easier. I have a mate who also has a team and I'm sure he would be down when he gets knocked out of the Cup in England. That makes it 11. We could then give a random bye to someone if we want to go ahead.
Ideas? Comments? Additions? Subtraction? multipication? division?

Several of those teams, such as LoneStar's Panther City and Elwood's Indy Racing, will be in the cup for a long time yet.
If we don't start until June, we won't finish in time for the next season.
Breaking up a cup in the middle isn't very fun either.
I think the only possible way is to do a home-and-home knock-out, and if you're still in it when you have to leave, you'll just have to forfeit.
Or just scrap it until next season. You leave in what, 2 weeks?
My team id is 8726 by the way.

Although it sounds like fun, I won't be competing in the BigSoccer Cup. As founder and sole coordinator of the Lone Star Cup and LSC Federation, my plate is pretty full. I also hope to improve on my Round of 16 appearance in LSC V last season.
Beat my first human club in the cup yesterday, 7-1. Played all starters except for my midfield trainees and my keeper. Since I've been PIC-ing every cup match this season, I was afraid to play all reserves. Don't want to get tossed out this soon.
Got my first World Class midfield rating last Sunday, but Aguilas spanked me 5-1. Not quite sure how those things happen, but they always do.

Elwood here, aka Indy Racing Athletic.
If things go well, I hope to not be free on Wednesdays for a while yet.
If things don't go well, I learned early on I should NOT be in a friendly cups. I think it was a feeder for the America's Cup (or something similiar), the Great Lakes Cup, that I competed in in late 01. Due to my nature I actually tried to WIN the thing, of course causing all sorts of injuries in the process to starters. Since then, I no longer even think about joining friendly cups.
I tend to play international friendlies, due to slightly larger crowds. As an ML team, I can help draw big crowds for small teams (IV, V, VI), and so generally accept challenges from the lowest international team I get challenged from. Though last season I agreed with Glasgow Athletic of Scotland's SPL to just alternate each week's friendly. He's one of the two guys I've gotten into HT that has stuck, so we tried to see what kind of crowds 2 top teams could draw in friendlies.

I try to do the same thing. I usually have at least 2-3 weeks a season where I'm either knocked out of the US Open Cup or not in the LSC, and I have no problem traveling to lower division clubs abroad. I've found that choosing D4 or D5 clubs with stadiums 25,000 or larger can bring in a nice chunk of change that easily offsets the $6,000 travel cost. A good friend of mine runs The Fancy Garlic Presses, and he always plays foreign teams at home. Last season I brought in more dough then him almost every time. Fool.........

Well should we scrap or still plan for it since most people won't be able to do it?

Is there a BigSoccer Federation?
If not, would anyone be interested in creating one?

Great win today at home to the third place team, and the co-leader (we're tied, but he's a clear favorite to win it this year) had his star midfielder's leg broken and won't be playing next week. Ya-HOO! There's justice in the world.
Though I'll probably be whining when I get knocked out of the cup Tuesday and lose away next Sunday. But today, the beers on me.
Oh, and one of my 19 year old strikers turned outstanding this week...and got 2.5 stars today. Wanker.

Alright...I'm about to switch training to midfield and I was just curious as to if someone might have the knowledge as to how long it takes to increase star ratings.
Say I buy a player with 2 and 1/2 stars, about how long training a player at 100% till he makes the jump to 3 and 1/2.
I've been training scoring for a while and bought two solids a while back and they're almost at formidable. They were both getting 2 and 1/2 stars when I bought them. Now they're getting three on a regular basis and one just got 3 and a half in todays league game. So it's taken about a season worth of training for my forwards to improve a star level. But I wasn't sure if Midfield would improve as quickly.
Thanks ahead of time.
