I want to shoot myself now.

I put a keeper on the transfer list and thought I had it for $270,000(he is listed at 260,000), but some howhe was placed at $270. There goes several grand to help me get out of debt.

If he's any good, the bidding will pick up... I'd assume he's a solid?

So how did everyone do in their first league match?

Us Open Cup-won 2-1

1st Regular season game-won 6-1.

Cheers for this thread. I'm taking some ideas and hopefully I'll be able to improve and get out of debt.

8-0 win in the Cup at a div VI bot.

2-1 loss in the series, away to Shaolin Landfills.

Major League looks to be a little bit tougher this season....

will you usually win the game if you are facing a bot?

yup, they seldom get players in the right positions and never make roster moves so they get the same bad players for the teams history...what they are good for is PIC'ing to get team spirit up.

Managed to win my first league match this season, 7-1.

Beats getting pummeled every week like last season.

Just sold one of my youth pulls for $160,000 (approx) so that helps my economy quite a bit too.

Tied 1-1 at last year's third-place finsher (I finished fourth). I'll take it, especially since his MF was much better. Just trying to maintain this year while my team gets better. Our lone goal was scored by my brand new youth pull, 17 year old striker Reece Ward (coincidence that his initials are Wayne Rooney's reversed?) I might have to train scoring now.

Sold my 17 y/o solid PM for 2.5 million. Used it to get two better midfielders, upgrade my stadium, get a solid coach, and get a decent keeper. Cup game #2 up next - this time against an actual human.

How did everyone do in the cup and what does your draw for the next round look like?

I played a div vi 'bot and won 8-1.

Played it cool and mostly back ups too.

Next a team from div v, same as me. On the road. I don't think I have ever had a home cup match!

Questions:

Will just playing be enough to increase my players form, or is general training the way to go?

From what I can tell from the boards on hattrick, most people avoid general as it doesn't last long. Shortlived results.

I had a player injured for three or four weeks and his form has stayed solid (surprisingly) and yet one of my regulars who plays every week seems stuck on inadequate form. What gives?

Don't know about the form question.

Played a Div V team at home (I'm in V.15), won 2-1. Both of us had pretty good defenses and not so good offenses. Now I get to play a Div IV team and will probably get my ass kicked. Might send in my backups just so I can train and not get people hurt. But it will be another home cup game, and this comes after stadium expansion, so I should get lots of money from that.

I lost 3-1 in the cup, but had a young goalie in after selling my old man keeper who was solid. Stupid mistake cost me in $. Hopefully i can do well in the league.

Has anyone thought about doing a BS Cup? Maybe make a draw and arrange friendlies and post the scores here or something like that.

We did one a couple of years ago and I think there are probably more posting on here now than then. Fairly successful as I remember.

We might need to wait a couple of weeks for a few more of us to get knocked out of the cup.

It might be better to do a Champs League type format so you get more than a couple of games, but more like six games (play 3 other teams twice).

Other suggestions?

About how many teams do we have that would be in the Cup?

Maybe we need to do a roll call?

Who is interested in this BS cup idea? Once you're knocked out of the US Open Cup on hattrick you'd be eligible. We can schedule our own matches as "cup friendlies" within the site.

Post if you're interested.
