From looking at the report, it appears that Pause played left back in the first half and a d-mid role in the 2nd half. Pause is a left footer who mostly played centrally for the Fire last year.

Thread taken:

Albright starts to surprise with good play in MLS about midway through the year (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=1310542&highlight=Albright#post1310542)

And then:

My post in a thread regarding the idea of Chris Albright at Right Back (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=1377110&highlight=Albright#post1377110)

Point being, with his physical gifts it has been rather apparent for a while to me, at least, that the Albright to Right Back experiment was worth looking into.

On the U23 side of the ball, I am happy to hear that Beckerman played well. Throughout the year in MLS, I thought Kyle just got better and better as a player. In the playoffs, I thought he and Borchers were the brightest players for the Rapids (Also glad to see Nat alongside Burciaga. I think that's the 1st choice CD pairing for qualifiers).

Kyle's decision making and ball-winning are very good. His passing, IMO, is as good or better than any other MLS defensive midfielder.

especially good about Kyle in that Ricardo Clark may have a sports hernia, and this with qualifying just a few weeks away.

How'd Conor Casey play?

(Albright) Oh yeah, he outplayed ESKANDARIAN in one match...that certainly makes him US Nat Team a shoo-in for right back on US Nats...

Folks get real....get REAL real....

I don't think anyone here is advocating the blind usage of Albright in WC2006 based on his preformance against Esko jri. It's an experiment. Simmer down.

That's interesting. At UNC, Pause played well as an attacking mid his freshman year, moved to defensive mid his sophomore year, and played center back alongside David Stokes his junior year (got all-ACC there, I think). I dunno if he's played much left back before, but I imagine he could do the job there, and he'd probably also be a decent left-sided midfielder in a pinch. That kind of versatility should go a long way toward earning him a slot on the Olympic roster.

Got to agree with you. Beckerman really has improved his game, finally. He almost fell off the radar - then last year was his breakout. Acutally, the olympics could be the real breakout if he makes the team and starts.
