View Full Version : Best All-Time Mustached Platers

Hello. Looooong-time lurker. Just got done watching my new "A Decade of Great Goals" DVDs, and watching Ian Rush, a thought came to me--who are the best all-time players to don mustaches?
I can't even think of a top player besides Ian Rush to wear one. I guess the caviat has to be that it has to be someone who has played more than say, 3/4 of his career games with one.
Yeah, so my vote would be Ian Rush.
Darn, can't edit title. I don't mean platers, I mean PLAYERS.

No list of mustached players would be complete without David Seaman.

Legendary Aberdeen and Scotland captain Willie Miller sported (and still does) a fantastic specimen of a moustache.
He is pictured here lifting the European Cup Winners Cup in 1983...

Graeme Souness was another moustachioed Scot

Rush and Souness have to be the top two, and that's not just my red tinted glasses.

So we have the all-time XI Mustachioed approx:
----------Seaman/Grobbelaar(remember him?)---
Wouters--Rijkarrd--Rivelino--Sounness
--------Didi--Gullitt--Chastain
---------Voller--Milla--Rush
If someone knows the positions better than me, redo it. I don't know where on the field some of these players belong. Nor can I spell most of their names.
The Holy Grail would be to see a pro nowadays sport one of those Rollie Fingers handle-bar 'staches.

How come? People with beards usually have moustaches as well. You could then add Maradona (occasionally bearded) and Socrates to the list.
There's probably several other players who wore moustaches at some time or another during their careers.

haha i made the same mistake in another thread and typed modeator instead of moderator.
Anyways no list of mustached players will be complete with the world's #1 goal scorer Ali Daei. Eventhough he dosen't have his mustache anymore but he was on top of his game when he did.
