What up with the African Nations Cup

Why is this scheduled during the heart of the season of all the "major" professional leagues.

This seems a poor way to make friends at that level, and puts some of their players in a bad spot. Some seemingly retire from international earlier just so that can stay with their team, especially those in a contract year.

Aren't these competition usually held in the summer.

im pretty sure its to do with the weather (seasons) and that their schedule is at a different time of year for african leagues, which is where the majority of players are!

Have you ever tried playing football during hottest part of the year in any country on the equator for instance? If not then try it sometimes. It's not alot of fun i can tell you!

If you want to see more cases like Marc Vivien Foe then by all means reschedule but i prefer my players alive and kicking.
