Anyone notice the updated promos with newer graphics that appeared to debut this weekend?
A fresher look was long overdue......although that
man-holding-up-globe thing from the early days
was sorta cool.

Is this a positive sign that FSW is making some money and investing it back into the company? I certainly hope so...

Both FOX Sports en Espanol and FOX Sports Latin America needed new promos.
FOX Sports World simply tagged along.
FOX Sports en Espanol is now in its 11th year of operation and should have reached profitability long ago.
There are actually 3 versions of FOX Sports en Espanol: Los Angeles, Miami, and the rest of the US. The Los Angeles and Miami versions have local advertising. Note that at least 45% of the population in the Los Angeles and Miami TV markets are Spanish-speaking.
Neither FOX Sports Latin America nor FOX Sports World (US) are profitable as stand-alone entities.
Of course, FOX Sports Int'l makes good money with its programming licencing deals to Canadian broadcasters Rogers Communications (Rogers Sportsnet) and Global TV (FOX Sports World Canada).

I like the new set for "The Rugby Club." Especially the fact when the guys drink Guiness beer during the show. (I thought you can't be seen drinking during a tv show.)
oh well...lol
So maybe they'll spring some bucks on a better set for their MLS coverage.
Also, like the new scoreboards that show the color swatches. I was just thinking that should be done during soccer matches to figure out which team is which, and lo and behold, there it is.
I should think more often.

FWIW, I think rules for cable on that account are different.

No drinking allowed during BROADCAST (over-the-air) TV shows only.
No such FCC restriction exists on cable/satellite TV shows.
The "actors" in the Bravo series "Celebrity Poker Showdown" were drinking pint after pint (and they played like they were drunk with bad play after bad play.)

So, is "I just didn't get the cards" Hollywood slang for "I had too much to drink"?

The following translations are from yours truly, a struggling minor-league semi-pro poker tournament player who will get his name in Card Player Magazine for the first time for finishing 4th in a recent Limit Omaha High/Low Split tournament at the Oaks Card Club in Emeryville, CA (near Oakland).
(A 4th place finish sucks royally when the big money is in the top 3 places, especially since I got to the final table of 10 with the 2nd biggest chip stack and I did NOT lose a single showdown at the final table until the blinds ate me alive. My excuse was the all too-familiar "I just didn't get the cards.")
--
Poker Speak:
"I just didn't get the cards."
Translation to American slang:
"I got punked."
"I got spanked."
"I got smoked."
"I sucked."
---
Poker Speak:
"Nice hand."
Translation to American slang:
"F--- you for sucking out on the river. You son of a b---- had no business calling my big raise what that garbage hand. Hope you are proud of yourself, you a-- hole."

Well, I've never seen Oliver get so worked up. We definitely don't want to bring up poker again. :)

New American idol commerical too! That's very significant. I won't have to use my mute button all the time for the next few days.

Too bad she couldn't sing. I though she looked kind of cute.
I do like the new FSW graphics, it's about time!
