With the growing popularity of soccer in the United States, do you believe the Champions League final will be broadcasted on ABC this year instead of ESPN? It wouldn't surprise me :-)

They're not going to preempt All My Children, General Hospital, etc.

Hopefully not. Watching the CL final just wouldn't be the same without getting up-to-date baseball scores at the bottom of the screen.

They moved Monday Night Football from ABC to ESPN. Highly doubt we'd see the CL final go the other way.

If you talking bout this yrs Championship Game no why would ABC pick that up during a Wednesday afternoon? the 09-10 Championship is supposed to be on a Saturday, i can see ABC picking that UP.

MNF on ABC was not getting the ratings like it once did. over all Network TV doesnt get good ratings like it used too during weekdays.. March madness can be the exception

Maybe if Platini's plan to move the CL Final to Saturday or Sunday goes through, then most likely.

The only time I can recall ABC ever putting a midweek soccer game on in the afternoon was the US-Germany game from the '98 World Cup. I don't know why I remember it, maybe it was the complaints from all the soap fans.

Would never happen again.

No because he wants more kids and fans involve, and he knows a weekend game will much better for everyone.

If it's a Saturday night kickoff in Europe, I would bet it happens.

Only thing is that in May, it would conflict with the NBA playoffs here, which on the weekends may take place during the day and are often on ABC (as well as ESPN and TNT, of course).

Did I miss something? Isn't the CL Final always held on a Wednesday?

The NBA Finals have a global audience as well. They are smart enough not to conflict with the CL Final.

It might happen, but when the champions league final moves to Saturday. Come late May the NBA playoffs aren't on until the evening U.S. time and ABC might want something to compete with early season baseball that's on FOX. But even if the game was broadcast on ABC you'd still see the score ticker on the bottom of the screen. ABC Sports doesn't exist anymore and ESPN on ABC is the sports entity it's broadcast in.

i dont see the problem with the ticker, soccer isnt that special that a sports network is gonna cater all its resources to one sport or one event..

I'm pretty sure it's for European ratings. The games sell-out whenever they're scheduled.
