I ain't no Trustafarian.
My money's earned by slacking off at work, not because my last name's that of a robber baron from days gone by.
Anyway, the hipsters live near Bedford, and they pay $500 more in rent than I do for comparable living space, so who's coming out on top in the end?
I live where people have darker skin, you know, Puertoriquenos, Ecuadorans, Italians...Folks try not to live near the BQE or points east. They try to get into the Bedford/Berry Sts area.

FAQ: Comcast vs FOX Sports World
August 22, 2002
Over the past 18 months, Comcast cable TV systems across the US, particularly those in the Philadelphia and Baltimore/Washington markets, have removed FOX Sports World from their channel lineups once the carriage contract expires.
Because Comcast owns Outdoor Life Network (OLN), which competes directly against FOX Sports World for US TV rights to international sports events (Cycling, Skiing, etc.), Comcast considers FOX Sports World to be a threat to OLN.
As a result, Comcast would do whatever it can to make sure that FOX Sports World remains a weak competitor to OLN.
OLN currently reaches over 40 million households, while FOX Sports World reaches only 12 million households.
Because several other FOX digital cable channels (National Geographic Channel, FOX Movie Channel, among others) have higher priority than FOX Sports World, it is highly unlikely that FOX will force Comcast to carry FOX Sports World in the forseeable future as a condition for Comcast to maintain carriage of FOX-owned broadcast stations under the "retransmission consent" rule.
Once the acquisition of AT&T Broadband by Comcast is complete, Comcast will have control of over 22 million cable TV subscribers, as well as control of cable TV systems in 9 of the top 10 US TV markets.

FSW is must see TV; no question. My cable company carries it on their basic cable platform but I upgraded to digital because I believe I get a better reception. As I'm typing this I'm one eye on hte clock because in 10 mins Sky Sports News comes on and when you see the Daglish girl you'll think $10 is a steal.
FSW also shows American soccer. They have exclusive rights to the U.S. open Cup, the USL/A-League and in October will carry the Womens Gold Cup matches live. And don't worry if none of these leagues sound to exciting to you at the moment you'll soon get addicted to them.
Also I heard Christian Miles mention on a radio station that FSW dropped the Dutch league in favor of the Italian so the Serie A may appear on there yet. I'm also hoping that the Libertadores will make it's debut this year.
$10: That's a steal.

That's interesting.

Let's hope!

My wife and I are househunting. We've discussed a dish, maybe. I need to find out what cable carries here. We go to look at a house--she's checking out the yard size, the patio...I'm trying to figure out where the TV goes, so I can watch soccer fairly loudly without waking her and the boy up!
OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT!

That's not very good news at all. I've never even watched OLN. Almost as much of a waste as the shopping channels and C-SPANs (for me, at least).
Thanks for the info, though.

I would be checking out the house to make sure you get an unobstructed S / SW sight line :)
BTW, min packages to get FSW on satellite systems:
DishTV: American's 150 Plan $41
DirecTV: Total Choice $32 + $12 Sports Pak = $44

As I've never seen it, I'd like to get some peoples opninions...Is FSW worth it? I love watching Euorpean Football but I realize that my favorite league (Serie A) isn't on. I'm just wondering, how many games are on in a typical week, how much is devoted to soccer, are there highlite shows that show stuff from all over the world, etc.
Thanks for any responses.
Lets put it this way, as soon as it was available I got digital cable. Ever since then my girlfriend has been pissed at me often ;)

You want to really maximize your soccer fix, you try to get the package in which Fox Sports World Espanol is on. They carry the Copa Libertadores, plus other soccer leagues, (get to see Johhny Walker play with U. Catolica)
Sure, some may not speak spanish, but soccer is a universal language in its own.

I get FSW on digital cable and am very happy with it.
FSW used to cover Serie A in great abundance, but I guess the contract expired. I'm puzzled why they have discontinued coverage of Serie A.
Warning: FSW is extremely addicting. When I first got it I watched about 15 hours per week before my wife threatened to leave me. :D
Be very, very careful.

I only watch OLN for one month in a year when there's Tour De France. I am a big fan of Lance Armstrong. The rest of the year belongs to "soccer", mostly on FSW.

I think they replaced it with more shows about Indian sports, because you can't cover it all in one half hour.
Particularly if it requires extensive coverage of cricket :D
I love Fox Sports World. The first thing I do when I turn on my Dish Network is to go to 149 to see what's playing. Soccer is the reason that we got satellite TV, and Fox Sports World is at the center of it.
They even broadcast an occasion A league game. And, if you follow UK football, the Sky Sports program is on, with all the latest news and highlight clips--and not just from the Premiership.

Just another reason to go to satellite (Dish or Direct TV) if you are able...

There is an ad for FSW at the bottom of page 8 of the Chicago Stupidfa....I mean Tribune hyping their Premiership coverage for the next week or so.
Anyone else get this in their paper? I'd guess they might have hit the big markets with this ad.

There's a good sized ad in today's Boston Globe Sports section with a picture of David Beckham promoting Live English Premier League Coverage on FSW. They list 6 ucpcoming live games and urge you to "Call your local cable operator".
Looks like they're making a push for new subscribers. ATT Broadband just added it a few weeks ago and they cover most of MA.

I've had FSW for 2 weeks. It's so addicting. Soccer matches every day. How can you beat that?

It's worth it for the babes on SkySports News alone. Just turn down the sound when Allen Hopkins is doing an Argentine game.

Same ad running today and yesterday in the LA Times.
