Thought this deserved a thread of its own. The media all over DC are drooling all over themselves at the prospect of Joe Gibbs coming out of retirement to coach the Redskins.

I thought Nowak is coaching the Redskins and Gibbs is coaching United.

I know Snyder is the owner, but is he also the GM? If Gibbs does come back, would he also wear the GM hat or will Snyder (or whoever else is the GM) still have that role or will a new GM be hired so that Gibbs could just concentrate on coaching? Where's Bobby Beathard now?

Gibbs' contract states that he will stay on the Redskins staff even after he is finished coaching. My guess is he will be GM then and Snyder will just own the team.
I am also confident that Snyder will leave Gibbs alone. The guy grew up in Bethesda and was a rabid Skins fan. He idolizes Gibbs and I bet he is so anorous of the guy that he would never step on his toes.

Gibbs will be team president. His contract is for five years as coach.

He is actually team President and coach presently. What I am saying, and this is pure conjecture, is that I think he will be GM when he is done coaching.

I don't follow the NFL that much anymore, but I was amazed at this news. Gibbs certainly won't have time for NASCAR anymore, will he? Won't this create unrealistic expectations for Redskins fans? Should be interesting.

His two sons will be running the NASCAR operations.

Do you mean more unrealistic than the fans around here who thought the Redskins were going to win the Superbowl when they beat the Jets after the Britney Spears concert on the Mall?

Having just moved to the D.C. area, this is my first time being around an NFL fan base other than the that of the Cowboys.
Now don't take this personally, but you guys are the biggest bunch of whining, bitching, moaning, infleriority complexers I've ever seen. I realize I've caught you at a bad time, but get some *#*#*#*#ing self-respect. Even your tv commercials are about the Cowboys, for Christs's sake. I listen to your Sports radio and callers are STILL bitching about the way Cowboy fans behaved IN YOUR OWN *#*#*#*#ING STADIUM. It's like one collective pigskin therapy session. Hell, I walk out in public in a Cowboys cap, and people's bottom lip starts trembling. And when I dare them to say something bad about America's team to my face, they burst out in tears. It's pathetic.
