Bleh, I can't find the article at the moment but the CSA is trying to hold a training camp in Florida during January. They are also trying to arrange a friendly with Barbados.

Confirmed
Canada will play Barbados on Jan 18th at Bridgetown. There might be a good chance that the game will be available on local Bridgetown radio (on-line).

A few new faces to the national team, which is definetly a good thing. The North American camp is a good chance for Yallop to check out some of the 'fringe' players (obviously not De Rosario etc).
Nice to see Sulentic, Sutton, Gervais getting a chance to prove himself at this level.
Also, Bartolomeu (Metrostars) is a new player to the Canadian national team system. Apparently has married a Canadian women.
Should be an interesting few weeks. I hope we will get a few training reports...

"Edgar Bartolomeu is headed to Florida next week to take part in Frank Yallop's first camp as Canadian men's soccer coach. And the Angolan left back, who plays for the New York-New Jersey MetroStars in Major League Soccer, can't wait to pull on a Canadian jersey."

Rumour has it that Kappos (forget his first name at the moment) of AEK Athens has been called into the Canadian camp.

It is official...
"Canadian Men's World Cup Team head coach Frank Yallop has added 24-year-old defender Stathios Kapos to his roster for the training camp in Ft. Lauderdale and international friendly against Barbados."
http://www.canadasoccer.com/eng/media/viewArtical.asp?Press_ID=1579
Kapos plays for AEK Athens.
Looks like the Canadian Olympic and the men's national team will play a few intra-squad matches this week.
The Olympic team is also supposed to play Mexican club Nexaca on Thursday.

Kappos could be a nice little addition to our squad depth, adding to our options at right back. I wonder if Yallop might try him in the middle of defense, or even as a striker (where he apparently used to play at one point).

Good to see that Neil is with the team and should be giving us regular updates.

"SUNRISE, Fla. (CP) - The road to the 2006 World Cup started anew for Canada on a sunny field in south Florida on Tuesday.
The magnitude of the job ahead is not lost on newly minted head coach Frank Yallop. If the Canadian men's soccer team is now his baby, Tuesday's scrimmage was the tiniest of toddler steps."

Today's scrimmage
Canadian Olympic Team 2
Canadian Senior Team 2
Rob Friend scored both goals for the Olympic squad. Gabe Gervais (Montreal Impact) scored both goals for the Senior team. The scrimmage was two 40-minute halfs (10 v 10).

Why don't they change the Impact's name to "Canada's national B squad". They seem to have 7 or 8 Canadian internationals.

The roster is a North American based team (for the most part) and Canada only has 4 professional teams (if you can call Toronto a professional team). ;)

What no complaints or whining about Dasovic and Corazzin?
Oh wait, this isn't the voyageurs.

Krammerhead, you forgot Watson.
And yeah if any of those three start in a game that means anything I won't be really impressed. I'm confident we have better options for each of those guys. I've got nothing against those guys - Watson and Dasovic were two of my favourites in their prime - but I don't think they're the answer any more.
cheers,
