Following up on the thread that is no longer with us.

Maybe it is best that Laurie is forced to sit for at least one season. Attempting to start the season in less than 100% health is not fair to the team or to the player. Inquiring minds are wondering if it was Laurie's decision to try and play hurt or Bones (I think you're on the right track, g4m, but it's Mom not Dad). Playing hurt late in the season or during the playoffs is not unheard of. Trying to "suck it up" and start the season hurt is borderline suicidal. When there is a temptation on the part of a player to do that they would be well advised to step back and look at what they are doing.

Did Philly really need her that much or was Laurie (or Bones) afraid that she would be replaced with equal or better talent.

Laurie's health should take precedent over what she may percieve as a few moments of glory.

Hopefully, Laurie is on the mend.

BTW- I think it inappropriate to demaen players that "nurse" heir injuries. Missing a game or two to mend during the season makes for a better post season.

Hello fellow Baltimoron, and thanks for restarting this thread.

I'm STILL waiting for a definitive answer to this question. Where exactly is she, what exactly happened, what exactly are her plans?

I'm not a crazed stalker or anything, just very curious..... It's also a matter of pride. Not a lot of soccer players come from the Baltimore area. Zach Thorton, Santino Quarentino of D.C. United (I know I didn't even come close to spelling his name right) and Thori Staples are the only others I know of who have had any impact anywhere in soccer.

But who the heck is Bones? What Mom-and-Dad stuff? ???????

She is kinda similar to Aly Wagner...... I'd take the 2 of them to the World Cup over Hucles, Fair, Serlenga....... or maybe even...... dare I even say it...... my beloved Foudy and Frenchie!!! (:-o)

Maybe when the Baltimore Sun's high school preview comes out, you will see her name back where she belongs. McDonogh! Do not know for sure fellw Baltomorons.

Since the season is now over and we are looking forward to next year, and Philly needs offensive firepower, and cows will fly over Pluto (let alone the moon) before you guys get Wagner or Welsh, I am wondering again what has happened to Schwoy, and whether she will be back for next year.....

Kelly Smith becoming healthy is the key.

And the Charge have 2 first round draft choices, plus an international allocation for the retiring Liu.

I'd agree Wagner won't be here, but Welsh is a different matter.

Or the international allocation could be Patrizia Panico, rumored last year before Pichon, but stuck with a contract in Italy

Hey Zebrowski,
Why not Laurie Hill, she was your fave two years ago!!! Get off the Panico kick. And o yea, enjoy today's game.

True, Hill was my idea of a play maker and, obviously, I was wrong.

I don't have any access to any inside information.

I don't speak with any players, so all my speculation is just speculation.

It's what if scenarios, which can be fun or not fun, depending on your perspective.

If I was ever right, imagine the big head I might form.

I'd even enjoy the Charge, even if they went 0-0-21..

wouldn't u mean 0-21-0..that would be them losing every game...0-0-21 would be them tieing every game.

Bones, why are you not willing to let inquiring minds know what Laurie's plans are? Is she walking away or planning to try out with a new team? Your allegiance seems to lie with Carolina, is she looking to head south?

Hopefully, she hasn't burned any bridges. Word on the street is that when she let Philly, she wouldn't speak with anyone. Teammates tried to reach her on her cell phone, never got through and never got return calls.

Speculation is what makes Big Soccer interesting. Come on Bones, toss us something.

The international standard is W-T-L, so my 0-0-21 was along those lines.

Only in the USA do W-L-T get used.

As to Schwoy, the key is getting healthy, and if so, she can play in WUSA.

There is a rumor, a certain Carolina play maker has achieved her goals and may retire, so Schwoy might look to Carolina.

I would imagine there are so bad recollections from her time in Philadelphia, and it was probably the first time she ever was viewed as a marginal talent.

And dealing with that sort of emotional event can be difficult. One hopes time heals that would and time heals the physical ailment and time sees her playing next year in WUSA.

I'd like to keep this thread alive, until I hear something definite, or somebody posts an article, or something.........

Schwoy is alive and well, and living under a gag order in Baltimore, Bomabatta.

i dont mean to sound stupid or anything...but what's a gag order?

Adam Zebrowski

Not talking=gag order

Kind of like when you leave a job, you may or may not want to nurn your bridges.

Assuming Schwoy gets healthy, saying bad stuff, even if it's true, about a past employer, potential employers in the future might think twice.

So say nothing, and potential wusa coaches and gms won't have any ammunition to deny her her next shot, just her play in a training camp.

I wouldn't be shocked if NY has interest, after all Schwoy would fit Sermanni's style more than the current midfielders in NY.

Bones-

Is Schwoy healthy or working her way back? How is she keeping in "soccer shape" so that if the oportunity arises she'll be able to compete for a roster spot in the spring. You should know better than most the difference betwen just staying in shape and being in good "soccer shape" is huge. Many ahealthy athlete could not survive a full soccer scrimmage.

How has she been spending her time? Working? Coaching? Playing?

Where do you think she'll be trying out?

Is that right, bones? She really is under a gag order? That sucks........ Like whats-his-face said, a LOT of teams (including Washington!) would like to have her try out, I'm sure.......

But she WAS injured at the beginning of this last season, right?

Is she in perfect health now?
