View Full Version : What do YOU do to support the club?

With months of individuals calling each other not true fans I've wondered what we each do to support the club. Do you buy official merchandise? Do you purchase it directly from the club? Attend matches? Watch on media that is paid for (i.e. TV or online subscription)? Etc?
I'm hoping to just get a handle on how much we all do not start any pissing matches.
I'm broke from med school so I don't do much, just watch on FSC whenever they're on (or later via my DVR) but don't have the excess funds at the moment for more splurges.

* I attend and watch matches on TV
* I have the odd Arsenal shirt and jumper etc
* I enjoy discussing Arsenal with other teams supporters in a competitive "my team's better than your team" style
Merchandise and watching games is all well and good, but what is more important to me, and what I think is important for someone to call themselves a supporter rather than a fan is that:
* I don't boo my own teams' players
* I don't expect Arsenal to win every single time they play like it's a divine right
* I don't think Arsenal has a duty to win a trophy every year
* I appreciate the good times because I remember how bad the bad times were...

When I've been in London, I have taken a couple turns holding the stadium on my back a la Atlas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlas_(mythology)). :p
But yeah, I'm pretty much with Skizz on those points, though I do expect us to win every time, simply because I deem all other clubs inferior. I wasn't there for the bad times, seeing as how I was watching ThunderCats in those days. But I've followed teams in bad times all my sporting life, so ain't nothin' changin' for me should leaner days come to N5.

The camaraderie of supporting my team is enough for me - winning, trophies, whatever...that's all a bonus to me :)

Yup, that one.

Why would looking for glory hunters automatically result in them being eliminated?
I might also like to add that to support the club, I wee'd on Shite Hart Lane when I was 12. Still stinks of piss to this day :)

A bit hyperbolic don't you think? I wouldn't classify 2 or 3 incidents as 'months' of name-calling.

-I subscribe to ATVO. I love it, get to watch reserve matches, hear all the Clichy interviews (and everyone elses). Some of my favorite are "My teenage kicks" in support of our "Kids with Cancer" charity for this year. It's fun to hear about the guys teenage years, some of them are hilarious. Almunia crashed his dad's car and blamed him because his dad didn't put on the emergency break (car was on a hill).
- My lovely arsenal shirt from 05/06
- A few arsenal player posters
- A huge arsenal flag
- I get the arsenal calender every year (still need to get this one, need some money though)
- Watching every arsenal game either on tv or online. Haven't missed one yet. Even missed the odd class a few times to watch the game (they were easy classes anyway).
- I really want to go see the boys live. Hopefully when I'm done with school and make some real money I can save up enough to go. Either that or try and study abroad.

I'm thinking of having a bake sale in support of January transfers.

Am i alone in the feeling that this thread, while quite funny and amusing, is kind of Embarassing?
Since when should any of you have to say what you suscribe to and where you buy your shirts from and how many games you see a year?

This whole thread is cringe worthy.
Its along the same lines as the whole "you arent a real fan" name calling only taking a different slant.

I wake up hungover at 4 am in the morning on Saturday then spend 30 or more minutes looking for stream.
I also own a couple of Arsenal jerseys and flags.

I think there have been much more than the number you quote.

In no way did I want it to be anything like that, I just thought it would be interesting to see how we all spent money/time on Arsenal but I will freely admit it was inspirationed by the whole you're not a real fan thing.
