UGA is simply unlucky that they are stuck in the same conference as LSU...while USC is lucky they're not. Had LSU been in the Pac-10 instead of the SEC, UGA would only have one loss, not three. Meanwhile, USC would have had to play LSU twice and have three losses, not one. Simple, eh?
However, since USC and LSU are currently being claimed as co-champs, and in their common opponent games, LSU beat Auburn by 24 while USC beat Auburn by 23, and LSU beat Arizona by 46 while USC beat them by 45, you can see that the two teams are dead-even. It thus stands to reason that if they played twice, each one would win one game...giving LSU two losses, and USC two losses. That leaves UGA standing alone with one loss, so actually, they should be national champs alone, not sharing it as co-anything.
