Former Force owner Bart Wolstein, awarded a 2005 Major League Soccer franchise, meets this week with area officials to discuss building a stadium in either Cuyahoga or Summit counties.
Anyone else see this? Any comments? Been dead on here for a while.

What county is Cleveland in and how far away is it driving to these other counties that are being talked about?

Wally, Cleveland is in Cuyahoga County. Summit County (Boston Mills & the former Coliseum area) is immediately south, easily accessed by I-77, 271, and state route 8. Akron is about half an hour away. Medina County is directly down I-71 out of Cleveland southwest. Strongsville, Brunswick, Medina city all within 20-30 minutes of Clownstown. Check out Yahoo! maps or Mapquest for a look-see. Best thing about Cleveland is one's ability to get away from it in very short time. Problem there is, you could end up in Akron.

Has Medina County been mentioned in talks?

Don't believe so. The more I think on it, Strongsville, which is is SW Cuyahoga just north of the Medina line, would be an arguable location. On I-71 (major n/s) and the Turnpike (e/w), making it the hub of a large area of middle-upper-scale suburbian landscape with a large degree of families involved in soccer. 20 minutes from downtown Cleveland, and about the same from big-interest youth areas such as North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, North Royalton, Brunswick, and about a half hour from Wadsworth and Medina city. CrewToon speculated on SW Cuyahoga. Strongsville makes him look good.
If 'Stein were serious about a Cleveland outdoor pro soccer team rather than just the stadium issue, he'd be doing stuff to keep the idea in the public spotlight. I'd be doing some corny photo-ops of kicking an MLS ball around in the snow at the prospective sights & such, maybe with some bundled-up cheerleaders. If it was my money & letter-of-intent, I'd be out there today hamming it up for Channel 5 somewhere on Royalton Road near the I-77 interchange, -30 windchill or not. but then, I'm just a soccer fan.
Downtown? Summit? Anywhere else? Best "where else" bet for now IMO: Rochester.

Yup. It's silly to believe that Cleveland could have a SSS built by spring '05.
