I'll just cut to the chase; where do the following players play and what happened to them (i don't hear a lot about em anymore):
1. Roberto Ayala
2. Ivan Cordoba
3. Abel Xavier
4.Jocelyn Angloma (is he too old or something?)
5. Alvaro Recoba (injury?)
6. Candela (no more for France? pourquoi?)
7.Diego Simeone (me and my firend were disputing over him, he says at one point he was one of the best players in the world, i say never. what do y'all think?)
8.Redondo
9.Saviola (does he suck?)
10. Riise,( i heard some fool @ the bookstore say he's one of the best in the world, what do y'all think)
11. Djalminha (is he still tricky?)
12. Elber (same ? for him as D. Simeone in # 7)
13. Karembeau (no more for France since Euro 2000, pourquoi?
14. Ortega
15. D'Alessandro ( I heard that same fool say he's one of the best)
16. I hear there are two Juninhos. One at Lyon and the one at Middlesborough. Which one's better? Are any of them currently doing real well?

Actually this one is a little more tricky.
Almost a year ago, Ortega quit Fenerbahce and flew home to Argentina. It was rumored that he would rejoin River Plate, but the two teams could not agree on a price. Fenerbahce paid a lot of money to get Ortega, and would not let him out of his contract unless he bought it out or played it out. He refused to go back under any condition, and thus, owed the team about $12 million. He did not have that much money, so he has stayed in Argentina for several months, while his agents have continued to bargain. The last I heard, there is a chance he will rejoin Fenerbahce.

What's the story with some of the River Plate players that have gone overseas, then returned unhappy (I'm guessing) after only a short spell? Besides Ortega, the forward that dyes his hair blonde also followed the same path (or was it a loan deal?). I can't remember his name for anything at the moment.
I don't get to watch D'Allesandro anymore since he moved to Wolfsburg...how's he faring?

That was right winger Eduardo "Chacho" Coudet. It was a transfer to Celta Vigo, and he simply failed to get his game in gear.

And what of Riquilme? He went to Barcelona. Was he unhappy there for some reason? Or like you said about Coudet, he just couldn't get into the game there.
thanks

Riquelme did so-so at Barca, but was one too many non-Euro players for them. He is now at Villareal and starting regularly, I believe.

Back to the topic, I can't tell you about the one at Lyon's actual playing ability from first hand watching, but the Juninho at Middlesborough is named Osvaldo Juninho Paulista and hes got 4 goals this season, so he seems to be doing alright, he is very much flair though btw. The other one is named Pernambucano Juninho and I think he has 11 goals this season so hes doing well also. Sorry that this doesn't help you much, but I'm trying to start becoming a regular and whatnot.
thanks

D'Alessandro was voted by a German magazine the best buy of the year in bundesliga.
I think Chelsea is trying to get Roberto Ayala
I think Elber was the leader scorer in bundesliga last year and now plays in Lyon, France.
I read that last year Alvaro Recoba (Inter) was one of the best paid soccer players in the World.
Saviola is forward in Barcelona together with Kluivert.

bluedaddy19 answered most of it. Let me add some....
1. Roberto Ayala: Resigned with Valencia after a last minute to Real madrid failed.... doing well.
2. Ivan Cordoba: Starting for Inter Milan for a few years.
3. Abel Xavier: Rumored to be joining Real Madrid after the Winter break. He does not even dress for Liverpool.
7.Diego Simeone: Perhaps, the best defensive midfielder.
8.Redondo: Injuried for at least two years.... recovered, but could not get back into the game.
9.Saviola (does he suck?): Out of form. He does not play well with Ronaldino. He is still young.
12. Elber: Yes, among the best, but still not good enough for Brazil.
13. Karembeau: Busy banging his wife. :)
14. Ortega: Retired. He is not allowed to play for River Plate.
15. D'Alessandro ( I heard that same fool say he's one of the best): Yes, he is among the best U-23 in the world. He might become the best midfielder in the world.

Calm down my friend, we were simply discussing players which we had gotten confused, or lost in our football memories. No harm no foul.
thanks

Juninhio (?) who is playing at Lyon is a fantastic talent and is Lyons best player by a long way. Single-handedly got them thru in the champs league with a performance against celtic that included two goals and a shot off the bar from which the rebound was scored by elber!

11. Djalminha - i think he spent last season at Austia Vienna but is now back at Deportivo and i think is doing very well. I've not seen him play recently but i think the Depor president was calling him the best player in the world at the moment.
